Ok, first let's just say that apples n oak is one of my all time favorite scents anyway! I love this candle, and the car candle too. This fragrance is so warm and screams Fall to me. The candles are clean burning too.

Before I start I must say that you guys in the States are so lucky to have so many great candles to pick from. Here in Australia we have little of our own and those that do exist focus on looks and color rather than scent. Lucky you!!! Village Candles are the only American Candles that I've come across that smell so good. I've burned the following; Friendship Love Birds American Spirit Just Because LightHouse Apple A Day Heart N Home Warm Apple Pie Rasberry Tart Grape Bordeaux Hydrangea Spring Lilac Lily of the Valley Jasmine Gardenia Natural Cotton Summer Breeze Some smell stronger than others but overall good scent throw - even unlit. Premium Square Jars are supposedly stronger scented than Round Jars - I've also been told that they're scented the same strength in both. I've been told both lines by Village Candles themselves so I'm not really sure at this stage. Premium Square Jars cost more so I think they may contain more or maximum oil content than round. As I have only Root Candles and some other Iowa Soy Candle Company starting with A...... to compare with - Village Candles are the bees knees. Love the many various scents offered. I love the different types because I burn Jars, Pillars, votives, tealights and melts !!! Love them.

I bought a 26 oz. premium square jar candle in Mulberry Mistletoe. After about 15 minutes, the scent has filled our downstairs...I'm in the den now typing this while the lit candle is in the kitchen and I can smell it in here. Not overwhelming, just a delicious background sweet smell of mulberry. I bought this jar for only $7.99 at TJMaxx. I checked out their website and it looks like a got a steal. I rated this pretty high based upon how little I paid. I don't think I would rate it as high if I had paid the $21.50 retail since I have found smaller companies with as good a scent throw for way less than $20. But, for $8--this is a winner!

I have tried a few scents from this company and some are stronger smelling then others. I like their Mulled Cider. What they told me is the sqaure premium are stronger scented, the round ones are relatively new- I did purchase the square one, what I have learned in general about candles, sometimes the frangance just doesn't produce a strong smell

The 7 rating is for the melts only. They have some very nice scents and they last a long time with a good throw. The drawback to this company is that if you can't find them in stores their selection online is limited and the shipping is high.

I started buying Village Candles many years ago when they only had square jars and the jars had adorable brown paper labels. They were actually the first candles I ever purchased. I loved the "country charm" of the packaging and the double wicks. The fragrance throw was always superior and the scent selection was more bakery and fruit. (Which I love) Over the years, I believe they are trying to compete with other well-known brands and they lost the "country charm" that I loved. The fragrances have become almost entirely floral and the labels are too bright for my taste. They are even switching over to the standard round jars. :( Even so, I still enjoy some of their scents: Memories: (discontinued) a wonderful perfumy scent that reminds me of a favorite relative. Very close to a skin musk. Just Because: (discontinued) a mixture of fruits but mostly grape. Angel Kisses: (discontinued) reminds me of a sugar cookie Reach for the Stars: (discontinued) smells like a blend of different kinds of cookies. Delicious!! This was my favorite scent of all time... Holiday Fruit: a delicious blend of fruits that smells just like a sugary candy. I wish this company would go back to what made it different! Now I can only browse through some department stores in my search for the discontinued scents!

When I found Village Candle in the beginning I thought I had finally found a company that had the scent throw thing down pat as I had tried other companies that also had good throw but too many light scents. So when I lit my first Village candle and it scented up the entire room quick I thought my search was done. I bought a lot of their candles both online direct and at the discount stores and the quality is the same at both. There is more selection online though. I really liked the square jars but they do not burn cleanly in the corners and must constantly be "fixed" to get the wax off the corners. My biggest complaint so far is that of all the Village Candles that I've burned so far where its burned at least 1/3 to 1/2 way down, they start to have drowning wick issues. They will still burn and still throw but not as strong once it starts to drown. The first one that did this I contacted them and it was promptly replaced. Problem is they so far are all doing this....and I don't have the patience or the time to request replacements. And, I am sure they don't want to do that either! I noticed that other people had mentioned their drowning wick issues lately on their forum and realized that it was not just me, and that this was a real problem. I've made the suggestion in the past that I believe it to be that the wicks are too thin for the diameter candle and that if they solved that it would be perfect. We will see if they change anything. As for me, I've decided that I have just placed my last order....unless I want to deal with scooping out the wax to use in my tart warmers for my favorite scents....or I can find my favorite scents elsewhere. I still have many jars of Village Candles yet to burn and shudder at the thought that they all might have drowning wicks too.... Want to specify that the drowning wick issue is present in the 2 wick premium and new kitchen line jars. The crackling wick candles I cannot comment on at this time.

I have been burning a large square jar of winter wonderland. It burns very cleanly with no wax left on the side. The throw is light. I am now going to try a smaller square jar in apple raisin.

I'm totally new to these candles. I just burned my first one yesterday...it's their Warm Apple Pie scent in one of their really small jars. (I picked it up right in Acme...a well-known foodstore on the East Coast. They have a nice display of Village Candles.) I don't really like it that much. It kind of just smells like apples with a hint of cinnamon. It doesn't have that awesome pie crust smell to it that some other apple pie scented candles do. The scent strength of my candle wasn't really strong. It was ok, just not an awesome really "saturating-my-room" kind of smell. That might be from the candle being a really tiny jar. I still want to try other Village Candles to see how some of the other scents are. I guess I'll try them in a bigger jar next time to see if the scent strength is better.

I used to burn these candles more, before discovering some smaller companines that have really strong candles. I had no idea how strong a candle could be. Of all the village candles I have tried, I do like Mulled cider and apples and oak. both are great apple scents with a medium scent throw. They both filled my living room, with a warm welcoming scent. Not too strong, but very nice. I have burned others that just didn't do anything for me, so I can't say I would recommend this company when there are so many stronger candle lines available. Sorry Village Candle!

I bought an Angel Kisses at TJ Maxx. I thought the cold throw was pleasant, and hoped it was similar to the Yankee Candle Sparkling Angel. When alight, it wasn't. It wasn't even very pleasant. (The website's description of the fragrance gives no clue what it smells like.) Maybe I will try a fruit variety again, but this one was not great.

After reading some reviews, I decided to purchase a large Apples and Oak. This candle had no hot throw for me. Also bought 2 small Pistachio Almond (discontinued) which also had no scent throw. I purchased just before Halloween, so I bought three halloween jars (16oz) in Bat's Breath (candy corn), Jack O' Lantern (pumpkin) and Haunted House (licorice)--all of these were presented nicely with cute decorations on the front, and the candles burnt very clean, but there was just no hot throw-truly a disappointing purchase for me! :(

I bought a bunch of their clamshell wax tarts, and was very disappointed. the apples and oak was so weak, I had my nose in the wax, and could barely detect a smell. The warm apple pie was a bit better, but all in all, would not buy these again!

I continue to enjoy this brand of candle. I find them at TJMaxx for great prices.
