Brand: Colonial Candle

Type: 22oz large oval jar

Fragrance: Raspberries & Cream

Scent Strength: Medium

First impression of Raspberries & Cream:

I have never been one to resist the aroma of ripe raspberries smothered in sweet whipped cream. It’s the perfect combination and one my entire family enjoys. So when I saw Raspberries & Cream on Colonial’s website (and on sale I might add) – in my cart it went.

Here is the scent description from Colonial’s website:

A delicious raspberry confection whipped with notes of plum, exotic passion flower, and warm amber.

Passion flower and warm amber? Interesting addition to a raspberries & cream scent. Cold sniff, I couldn’t smell either of those two but if they come out and play once the candle was burning… bring it on. That actually sounds intriguing. But more importantly, where is the cream in the description? That should be an important part of this fragrance, don’t you think? Raspberries & Cream after all.

Time to light my candle!

Raspberry Cream Candle Review

I started this candle in my master bedroom and that’s where it stayed till the very end. I know I keep repeating myself with every Colonial review I post, but I have to state this in case we have a newbee reading. If you purchase a Colonial Candle… do not, I repeat, do NOT trim the wicks before the first lighting. I know the wicks look too long but they taper down on their own. If you trim them prior to lighting them for the first time, it screws up the wicks and your candle won’t burn correctly. Trust me, I learned that the hard way after ruining several candles. I wish Colonial would state this on their website but maybe they don’t know. Heck, maybe I’m imagining this? Who knows?

Okay, back to my candle. Loved this scent! My entire bedroom smelled like a sugary berry confection. The cream was there but very light. To me, this fragrance was like sucking on a raspberry candy with lots of sugar, zero tartness. As with most Colonial candles, Raspberries & Cream was a beauty to watch burning. The melted wax turned a dark pink and it glowed beautifully. As far as the passion flower and warm amber… I didn’t smell a lick of those two in this scent no matter how hard I tried. Nope. This candle was all raspberry and it was sweet enough to eat. Two thumbs up.

Strength – I would rate Raspberries & Cream an 8 out of 10 in a really large room, which is pretty decent. 10 in medium to smaller rooms.

How did my Raspberries & Cream candle burn?

This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from beginning to end. I did have to stay on top of wick trimming with this one but that’s pretty normal these days.

Closing to my review:

I enjoyed Raspberries & Cream from Colonial and would absolutely purchase this one again. I don’t see it on Colonial’s site right now, which is weird, but it is available through other retailers who carry Colonial and there are a number of them out there. Candlestomydoor.com is the biggest one that comes to mind. I checked their site and it is there.

If you love sweet and sugar candied scents, I think you’ll like this one. It was fun and a perfect spring scent. Yay!! Spring is almost here. I am SO ready!!

Happy candle hunting!
