It’s been a long while since we’ve formally reviewed a Bath & Body Works candle on this site, but it’s not because we haven’t been burning them. In fact, we recently scored several candles during their semi-annual sale, so we plan on some reviews going live over the next few weeks. The one I am most excited about is this one: Pumpkin Peanut Brittle. I knew I had to have this candle the minute I saw it available in the store. They are sold out right now online, which is a huge bummer, but I do see the older version available on Poshmark and eBay.
Pumpkin Peanut Brittle, B&BW
This candle was their typical three-wick tumbler style candle with a gold embossed lid. The lid and the label instantly put me in the Fall mood. The older candle had a plain gold lid, so I much preferred this one. The company and scent names were clearly displayed on the label. On the bottom, I found the scent notes (love!) as well as the typical candle warnings, etc. The wax was a caramel-brown color and the wicks for this candle were fairly thin. They were well-placed and long enough to need an initial trim. Overall, this was a great looking, well-made candle.
The Pumpkin Peanut Brittle candle scent name pretty much says all you need to know about this one. Still, looking at the scent description:
Crunchy Caramel Brittle, Salty Peanuts, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
On cold sniff, I could smell the deliciousness of the warm caramel notes. I didn’t get much saltiness on cold sniff and I couldn’t really tell that this was a pumpkin scent. I lit this candle in a large, open living space and let it do its thing. Ohmygoodness, I was greeted with such delicious, cozy goodness! The scent was warm with buttery caramel notes, almost syrupy. I could get the saltiness as the candle burned and it added another layer of warmth to the scent. Now, I’m not so sure I smelled any pumpkin in this scent (or it was drowned out by the other notes), but it really didn’t matter to me. This scent was fantastic!
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
This candle had a pretty strong cold sniff. Once lit, the scent was very strong and man, did it travel well. I don’t think this fragrance was as strong as Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, but it was very close. The scent did not run me out of the room, but it was strong enough to be a dominant fragrance in the room it was in and the throw went all over the downstairs and even wafted upstairs for us. Fantastic!
This candle had a really good burn. It created a deep wax melt pool that was very even. The wicks did need to have some frequent maintenance – I had to snuff the candle out every couple of hours to do a quick trim or my flames got too big for my comfort. I never noticed any black sooting.
One of my gripes with these candles is that they burn so fast! Or maybe that’s a good thing so that I can go through my stash a lot quicker. Still, the prices on these candles have steadily climbed, so it is a bummer when I burn through them so quickly. I still have more of this candle left (that will go in our Destash boxes), but I would estimate that this candle would have a 25 hour lifespan.
I absolutely loved the Pumpkin Peanut Brittle candle from Bath & Body Works. Although I’m a bit doubtful about the pumpkin involvement, the overall scent was delicious and the throw was fantastic. I could easily burn this candle all throughout the Fall and I wouldn’t mind it other times of the year, either. If you are a fan of gourmand scents, certainly give this one a try! It win’s our Editor’s Choice award as a really great candle from B&BW!
