Peppermint – Goose Creek Candles

Introduction to my review:

These days… I’m all about a great sale and Goose Creek Candles has been having some whoppers! Their most recent one was something like 70% off. SEVENTY!! I don’t know about you but that’s one I absolutely could not resist. Granted, many of the sale candles were winter fragrances but who cares!! Last time I checked, it’s still winter! I was in.

I love Peppermint scented candles and when I smelled Goose Creek’s version for the first time, I knew it was the first candle I wanted to review. Cold sniff was amazing… sweet and cool peppermint candies! I could burn this scent all year long… it’s even great in the summer… it’s fresh, crisp and usually super strong. It masks whatever scent you’re trying to eliminate… Stinky kids… cooking smells, doggie smells… you name it.

What did my Peppermint candle look like?

This candle looks pretty identical to Yankee candles. Same thick apothecary jars, same glass dome lids… you name it. The wax was a gorgeous deep red and had two wicks (YEAH!!). The label showed peppermint candies all piled up on top of each other. Mmmm!!

What did my Peppermint candle smell like?

First sniff, wonderful!! It smelled just like sweet and minty peppermint candies, my favorite!! Here is the scent description from Goose Creek’s site:

 “A unique blend of chocolate and peppermint combined with just the right amount of sweet honey and caramelized sugar.”

These candles remind me so much of Yankee, I made the mistake of lighting it thinking it would perform the same. Wrong-o! First off, Goose Creek’s has two wicks which I prefer… two pretty much guarantees an even and full melt pool. The fragrance is usually much stronger as well.

I lit this candle in my review room – a large bedroom – and it took all of 5 minutes before I began to notice the scent. That’s pretty fast!! Once the candle reached a full melt pool, holy cow – total saturation of scent – LOVED!!!! The scent description indicates chocolate notes but to me, this fragrance was all peppermint candies. I detected no chocolate. This was all crisp, cool and sweet peppermint candies. It was perfect!! This was a husband pleaser too… mine commented on it every day I had it burning. He loved it! And it was so strong… on a scale of 1 to 10, this was a 10. Easy.

How did my Peppermint candle burn?

Perfect!! Excellent melt pool, even and consistent flames with both wicks and the candle burned cleanly with no wasted wax. I was very happy.

Closing to my review:

This was a great candle and the scent was awesome… it was a perfect peppermint candy cane scent. If you love strong scents and are in the mood for something minty and refreshing… this candle has your name written all over it. I loved it so much, I bought a few more just to keep on hand for later. Can’t beat the price.
