Raspberry Macaroon Colonial Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Colonial Candle
Type: 22oz large oval candle
Fragrance: Paris / Raspberry Macaroon
Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Raspberry Macaroon:
The scent name is called Paris, but the actual fragrance is Raspberry Macaroon. I love the coloring Colonial Candle uses to color their wax. This candle happened to be a vibrant purple and the wax itself smelled delicious. I smelled a sweet and creamy raspberry scent. Yummy!! The label showed a painting of what I’m guessing is different colored roses of pink, purple and red.
Here is the scent description for Raspberry Macaroon:
This vibrant fragrance combines the scents of fruity raspberries and blackberries, along with a tempting vanilla pastry drizzled with golden caramel.
First impression? I smelled a sweet mix of berries blended with vanilla. I didn’t really smell bakery per se but found it to be more sweet and creamy. Caramel? Not right off the bat but who knows what scents will come to life once the candle is burning.
Which happens right now!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom to start out and a good 2 hours in ended up moving it to a medium sized room. This candle was a little too light for a big room. Once moved… a sweet raspberry cream fragrance wafted all throughout my guest bedroom and it was really nice. I would have loved a more bakery raspberry cookie as the scent name implies but it was still a great fragrance. Caramel? Yes, I think I did smell a smidge of caramel. I had to get closer to the candle to really notice it, but it was there – just a very light part of the overall scent.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 5 out of 10 in a really large room. 7 in a medium and 10 in a smaller room. Not a huge scent thrower but I did eventually find the right space for it.
How did my candle burn?
If you ever purchase a Colonial Candle… never and I mean never trim the wicks prior to the first lighting. If you do, you will mess up the wicks and your candle will never burn correctly. The wicks do look long but they taper down once lit. Trust me… been there, done that.
My Raspberry Macaroon candle struggled a bit to reach a full melt pool with each lighting. It did eventually right itself halfway down the candle but something I still wanted to point out. Other than that, it burned great. No soot. No leftover wax.
Closing to my review:
Paris, Raspberry Macaroon was a sweet and creamy raspberry scent I did enjoy, and boy was this candle gorgeous to watch burn… the wax was a rich plum purple and the flame and melted wax made it glow beautifully.
I do recommend this fragrance if you love sweet raspberry scents. I think you’ll enjoy the aroma and aesthetics as equally as I did.
Happy candle hunting!
