Palo Santo Bath & Body Works Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Palo Santo
Scent Strength: Medium/soft
First impression of Palo Santo:
Mmmm!! Palo Santo was such a soothing fragrance in appearance and aroma. The vessel itself was a frosted pale pink with a modern style clear label with a gold foil modern design pattern. The scent… a soothing and creamy woodsy scent I couldn’t quite pinpoint.
Here is the scent description I pulled from the candle:
Palo Santo wood, warm amber, soft musk. With essential oils.
I don’t know what essential oils are in this candle, but boy does it smell really good with Palo Santo wood definitely standing out the most. The wax smelled very smoky and rustic but also had a creamy element to it like vanilla was in the mix as well. Maybe that was the amber? That’s my guess. Whatever it was…. two thumbs up. I couldn’t wait to light this candle!
Which happens now!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom and not even five minutes in, the fragrance was permeating all around the candle. Within 20 minutes, the aroma was traveling throughout my entire bedroom and it was on the subtle side but still lovely. The scent – a beautiful woodsy amber type fragrance. Not too strong, nor too light – the strength… a perfect medium with the aroma remaining pretty true… a creamy amber/smoky/rustic woodsy kind of fragrance. I’m not sure I would call it masculine but maybe more unisex.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 7 out of 10 in a really large room. Not super strong. 8 and above in a medium to smaller rooms.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great the first half of the candle and then the dreaded wick issue hit. At the half mark, one wick went out, then two and from then on out, it was a dancing game getting them to all burn correctly. I eventually did but it was a real pain and a total bummer!!
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed Palo Santo. Not sure I went ga-ga over the fragrance enough to purchase it again, but I did enjoy it. I think my irritation stems more from the wick issue than anything else. You light a candle and you just want it to burn correctly from start to finish. With this brand, that doesn’t always happen.
In closing, if you love woodsy unisex type scents, go smell this candle next time you’re in a Bath & Body Works store, and if you end up purchasing one, I’ll be crossing my fingers yours burns correctly.
Happy candle hunting!
