Candlefind Says

A beautiful candle from start to finish, with creaminess and a soft spiciness that is perfect for the start of Fall.

Pros

  • Even, clean burn
  • Super long-lasting

Cons

  • Largest size is 13 oz

I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to Finding Home Farms, a company that makes some of the cleanest burning soy candles that I’ve tried. One of my favorites was the Nutmeg candle, which was oh-so-much-more than pure nutmeg. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this candle!

Packaging/Presentation

Finding Home Farms Nutmeg Candle
The label on the Nutmeg Candle was inspired by vintage seed packets!

This Nutmeg candle was their largest jar, coming in at 13 ounces. It was in a squat, round jar with a decorative label on the front that reminded me of the Farmer’s Almanac. They say the labels are inspired by vintage seed packets, and I could certainly see that!  A lot of attention and detail went into the design, which I found pretty cool. The label could easily be peeled off, if you wanted. It didn’t wrap all the way around the jar, though, so you could just turn the candle to one side if you wanted the ‘clean jar’ look. The scent name and company name were clearly displayed, and the candle was topped with a white, screw-on lid. The wax was white and there was one, well-centered wick (100% cotton).  Overall this was a nice, clean look.

Authenticity

On cold sniff, I mostly got the smell of slightly sweet spices and a bit of creaminess. I went to the scent description from the website and found:

A fresh combination of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove that will fill your home with a delightfully scent straight the fall and into the winter holidays.

Finding Home Farms

I could smell the mix of the cinnamon and nutmeg on cold sniff, then the beauty of the clove came out once burning. It gave the scent a bit of weight to it, but not too much. The star of the show, though, was the milky creaminess that I smelled. I could have sworn it was a nice, thick vanilla, but I didn’t see that in the scent notes. It was divine! I wanted to dip the wax out with a spoon. This was not a bakery scent in the typical sense of the word, but it was gourmand, warm, and cozy. Perfect for the evenings when we will soon be snuggling up by the fire!

Scent Strength & Scent Throw

The scent strength of this nutmeg candle was moderately strong. It was strong enough to notice it in the room and to be a dominant presence without being overbearing. The scent throw was even better – I could smell this candle as it burning in a medium sized bedroom and on down the hall.

Burn Performance

I enjoyed an absolutely flawless burn with this Nutmeg candle. I got a full wax melt pool after I let it burn for several hours on the first light. My flame was nice and steady without any sputtering. I got a beautiful, even wax melt pool with no wax hanging up on the sides. Perfection!

This was a super slow burning candle. I was able to enjoy it for several hours during 3 or 4 sessions, and I still have not put a huge dent in the overall candle. Wowza! This one will last and last and last.

Conclusion

Candlefind Editor's Choice

I have been impressed with the candles from Finding Home Farms, and the Nutmeg candle is no exception. It provided a clean, even burn and scented up my space nicely without being overbearing or ‘fake.’ This candle is a great choice as the weather starts to cool and I could see it being used for Christmas holiday gatherings, too. Just be forewarned that your house will smell so good that your guests may never want to leave!
