Introduction to my Harry & David Moose Munch Caramel review:
I don’t know about you but I am loving Harry & David Candles. Moose Munch Caramel is the 5th fragrance I’ve tried from them and so far, I’ve loved every one I’ve burned. They’re strong, consistent and very authentic. That’s pretty impressive considering this is a mass produced candle.
This line can be a little hard to find since Harry & David doesn’t sell these directly on their site… you have to find a retail store that carries this brand. My local Safeway grocery store carries them so if you’re interested in finding these candles, check out your local grocery stores. Very few websites carry these candles so you’ll probably have better luck looking in stores local to you.
This review centers on Moose Munch Caramel… it sure looked inviting when I saw the candle. The label shows caramel glazed popcorn in the picture, YUM!!
What did my Moose Munch Caramel candle look like?
Harry & David candles are really pretty. My candle was 16oz double wicked in a square glass jar. The edges on each edge of the glass were rounded. The candle had a copper colored plastic lid with Harry & David embossed in the center of the lid. The label on the candle shows yummy caramel glazed popcorn with the Harry & David logo at the top. Very well done. See picture to the left for more visual reference.
What did my Moose Munch Caramel candle smell like?
Smelling this candle cold for the first time didn’t really impress me all that much. I could smell a tinge of caramel/chocolate bakery notes but it wasn’t strong or striking enough to get excited over. Not unusual though with candles… the fragrance can really come out once you light it. I also haven’t been disappointed with a Harry & David candle yet so – in my shopping cart it went.
Here is the scent description for this fragrance I found online:
“Mouth-watering buttery almond-toffee with a hint of creamy chocolate fragrance.”
I don’t know if any of you have tried the real Harry & David “Moose Munch” but it’s positively – freaking -delicious! We’re talking melt in your mouth delicious and smells so good when you open the bag and smell it. Here is a little snippit about Moose Munch from Harry & David’s site:
“Moose Munch is our top secret version of caramel popcorn. Made from a recipe that took over 160 tries to get just right. The caramel is made with a lot of real butter. And when we say “a lot,” we mean it. That’s what makes it taste so great. And we use a special type of popcorn to make sure each piece is the perfect shape and holds the right amount of caramel.”
Butter caramel popcorn, YUM!!!! I’m craving Moose Munch now!
I lit this candle in my bedroom and left it alone for a good hour. When I finally came back to smell the fragrance, I could smell almost every element in the online scent description minus the buttery notes. Not so sure I would describe it as “mouthwatering” like the description indicates but it wasn’t bad. I could clearly smell the almond, toffee and chocolate – all three blended very well with the almond standing out the most to me. The strength gave a steady medium throw which was nice… I could smell the fragrance the moment I walked into the room.
I think I had too high of expectations of this candle because I was expecting a mouthwatering caramel popcorn scent like the real deal. This candle was nothing like that. All in all, this candle was just “ok” for me. It was bakery but it was lacking something. I think what it needed more of was caramel and buttery popcorn notes. To me, this scent was just a plain almond chocolate scent. On the flip side… if you haven’t smelled or tried the real Moose Munch, you may love this candle. It burned great, gave a nice throw and did smell like the description. So, if you happen to run across this candle, pop the lid off and smell it for yourself. You may like it.
How did my Moose Munch Caramel candle burn?
Perfect and clean burn. There was a bit of leftover wax in the far corners where the melt pool never quite reached but it wasn’t significant. All in all, great burning candle. Just had to keep my wicks trimmed regularly.
Closing to my review:
This was the 5th fragrance I’ve tried from Harry & David’s candle line and being honest here… it was my least favorite of the 5 I’ve tried. Moose Munch Caramel was good but not enough to purchase again – for me anyway. Should you get curious and run across this candle in a store, smell it and see for yourself. You may like it.
All in all, Harry & David candles are awesome and I highly recommend them. They’re strong, aesthetically pleasing, authentic and reasonably priced. What more can a candle lover as for?
Happy candle hunting!!

This was the best candle I have ever smelled. I went back to the store to buy them out and there were no more. It is beautiful….
Love the yummy scent, burn well, BUT they release LOTS of BLACK smoke upon extinguishing.
