I’m back with another review from one of my favorite places: Tara’s Candle Cottage! The Monkey Mouth wax melt was one of the scent samples that was included in a recent order. Tara is always generous in including samples, and I love the opportunity to get to try various fragrances from her ginormous scent list. Monkey Mouth seemed pretty fun enough, so I couldn’t wait to see what it was all about!

Packaging/Presentation
The wax melt sample I had was in a clear tart cup with a lid. The lids have a circle label that includes the scent name and company name for easy identification. This looked like one of the 1oz tart cups. Tara also has 2oz tart cups as well as some different shapes to choose from. This particular wax melt was yellowish in color – no embeds or added glitter. The yellow color was fitting for the scent, making me think of bananas.
Authenticity
On cold sniff, I got a definite tropical kind of vibe. I smelled bananas and a bit of sweetness. Looking at the scent description, I found:

Yep! Tropical, indeed! I used the entire wax melt in my 24W hot plate melter and started smelling the sweet smell of bananas just about right away. As the wax melted more, I could get the smell of creamy coconut and, I declare, I thought I also smelled some sweet melons. That wasn’t in the scent description, but it certainly tickled my nose that way. Yum-mo! It was very summery, sweet, and delicious.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
My Monkey Mouth wax melt was moderately strong with a fairly good scent throw. It wasn’t as strong as my Southern Pecan Pie wax melt from Tara’s, but it was definitely a good one. I had it going in a large, open kitchen, and I could smell the tropical goodness everytime I walked into the room.
Melt Performance
I kept this wax melt in the warmer all during the day and continued to get a good scent performance. I decided to change out by the late evening, but it was still putting out some scent for me at that time.
Conclusion
This Monkey Mouth wax melt was just what the doctor ordered around here. Just as the vision of Summer is right around the corner, this tropical scented wax melt was a perfect addition to our household scents. It smelled so good and lasted so long, I know this one will be on my repeat order list. Love Tara’s wax melts, much like the Southern Pecan Pie one and the variety of bakery wax melt scents we’ve tried. I’ve got a few more to review and will get those reviews up on site soon!
