First impression of Minted Eucalyptus:
Goose Creek candles has been hit or miss for me this past few years but Minted Eucalyptus sounded like a scent right up my alley. With their incredible and hard to resist sales… I purchased this candle in a heartbeat to review. The candle had pure white wax with the label showing sprigs of mint leaves laying against a wooden background. I’ve always been a fan of soothing eucalyptus and mint so I’m hoping Goose Creek does this scent justice. We shall see…
Here is the scent description:
A delightfully cleansing blend of wild mint and fresh eucalyptus.
Top: Fresh Eucalyptus, Mint Leaves
Mid: Bright Bergamot, Sheer Freesia
Base: Light Woods
Hmmm? That’s an interesting mix of scents. Sniffing the wax, I detected the mid notes the most with light woods finishing it off. It actually smelled super perfume’y to me. Eucalyptus and mint leaves? Oh where, oh where are you? I couldn’t smell any mint sniffing this candle. Hoping those notes come to life once this candle is burning.
Let’s find out!
I lit my Minted Eucalyptus candle in my master bedroom to start out and I ended up keeping it there for a good week. A medium setting would have been better (strength wise) but that’s okay… I got the gist of this one just fine where it was. The aroma… I’m happy to report, the mint notes did come to life once the candle was burning and that made me happy. The perfume’y notes I smelled at first did remain but the mint balanced it all out. The overall scent was bergamot, freesia, a hint of light woods ending with eucalyptus and mint. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I loved this scent but I didn’t mind it. Also want to point out, my husband never once commented on this candle which I consider a good thing. If the perfume component was too strong, he would have let me know. He didn’t.
Strength – I would rate Minted Eucalyptus a 7 out of 10 in a really large room. That’s not too bad. 8/9 in a medium and 10 in a small.
How Did My Candle Burn?
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned fine. No wick issues other than trimming them before each lighting – which is normal. This candle burned clean and even from beginning to end.
Closing to My Review:
Even though I can’t say I loved this scent enough to purchase it again, I did enjoy it. Minted Eucalyptus smelled like a blend of floral, woods and mint. It was different and I’m glad I gave it a try. What a pretty candle it was to watch burning too. I don’t know what it is about pure white wax, but I love watching white candles burn. They glow so beautifully.
Check out this candle next time you hit a Goose Creek sale. Just remember it isn’t solid mint.
Happy candle hunting!
