First impression of Mexican Vanilla:

I wish I would have gotten my hands on every one of the candles Pier 1 released in their signature series. I’ve loved every one I’ve tried so far and now I’m having a hard time finding more. I see them in stores but not online.

The moment I smelled Mexican Cocoa, oh my goodness. I closed my eyes and inhaled every bit of fragrance I could. So exotic and wonderful which I expected nothing less from Pier 1.

Here is the scent description for Mexican Vanilla:

Imagine delicate vanilla bean pods ripening in the brilliant Mexican sun. Master perfumers have captured that—along with elegant notes of patchouli, tonka bean and lime—in one highly fragranced candle.

Oh!! LOVE!!! That description is perfect! When I smelled the wax, I detected creamy vanilla and patchouli – both blended to perfection. I didn’t pick up on the lime but maybe that will come to life once the candle is burning. We shall see!!

I lit this candle in a small bathroom to start out. Once lit, it didn’t take long to start noticing the aroma and I have to say, it was perfection. The aroma… sweet vanilla blended with patchouli. Very warm, earthy and pretty strong! So strong, I ended up moving the candle to a medium size room. The scent… total Pier 1! I still wasn’t detecting lime at all but I didn’t care. The overall scent was perfect just as it was… an exotic, creamy and earthy vanilla that held be captive from beginning to end.

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 15 in a small room, 8/9 in a medium room and subtle in anything larger than that. Loved the strength of this candle.

How did my candle burn?

My candle burned pretty good. It did have a bit of trouble reaching full melt pools with each burning so a bit of wax was left along the glass wall but it wasn’t too bad. It did burn clean with no soot.

Closing to my review: 

I absolutely loved this fragrance and am kicking myself for not purchasing more when I had the chance. I just hope I can find more down the road… and I’ll be searching… I liked it that much.

Patchouli lovers… definitely check this candle out at Pier 1 next time you’re there… it was sweet, earthy and matched perfectly with vanilla. I loved every second of it!
