Intro To My Wax Melt Review
I haven’t focused on many products from Walmart’s Mainstays brand in the past, but I was looking for a good apple pie wax melt when I ran upon this one. Warm Apple Pie sounded just like what the doctor ordered, and it was on the really cheap side, too. Mainstays offers these 1.5oz packages of wax melts so you can try out a scent before investing in a full clamshell wax melt or a candle. I picked up a few other scents along with this one, but Warm Apple Pie is what was on my immediate mind.
First Impressions of My Wax Melt
This was a thin clamshell wax melt package that had a picture of a thick piece of apple pie on 
the front, complete with a handy dandy fork on the side. I’m rating the presentation a 4 out of 5 but just because I’ve decided to get a little tougher on presentation. There are SO many beautiful candles and creative wax melts, I have to have some way of ooh’ing and aah’ing over them!
The wax was rather soft and very easy to break apart. It was kind of hard to break these into squares. The scent on cold sniff was cinnamon-y with just a hint of apples. It was not exactly what I was looking for, but I didn’t want to judge this one on cold sniff alone.

I used this wax melt in my hot plate melter and it didn’t take long for it to start churning out scent. Once warmed, I could smell the depth of this scent a little more – it smelled like the thick, gooey insides of a warm apple pie. Yum! There was a little more sweet apple and a kind of syrupy smell to it once warmed. The cinnamon was still there but it was more mellow once warmed. I didn’t smell any pie crust notes, but it was still just divine.
How Did My Wax Melt Perform?
The small amount of wax I used did a really good job throw-wise. The scent itself was fairly strong and I could smell it wafting on out from the open kitchen area. I could imagine what a full sized cube or two would do!
Closing To My Wax Melt Review
I was really pleased with this apple pie scent from Mainstays. I would like to had some pie crust notes, but it smelled of warm apple pie filling and man, was it good! I could certainly see getting this scent in the regularly sized wax melts as an inexpensive option. If you don’t see this in your local Walmart, you can check for the wax melts online at Amazon, but you will pay more for them. I found a Warm Apple Pie candle and a Warm Apple Pie pillar on Amazon, so I’m anxious to see how those compare.
