Candlefind Says

A lovely, sweet floral scent that packs a punch in the scent throw arena.

Pros

  • Long lasting
  • Great scent throw

Cons

  • Currently unavailable
  • Not sure of all scent notes listed on website

I have been craving more and more floral scented candles and wax melts lately. I think I’ve been bitten by the floral bug. I bought the Love Letters wax melts from Goose Creek Candle Company quite some time ago, but I only recently got around to melting them.

Packaging/Presentation

These wax melts for Goose Creek were their typical round clamshell style wax melts. The packaging has a little notch that supposed to make it easier to open, but I still have difficulty with it sometimes. The picture on the front had some pink flowers in full bloom and some rose petals, making it very Goose Creek Love Letters Wax Meltsclear this was a floral fragrance. There was a note with the phrase je t’aime written on it with an envelope. It was all so, so pretty. The scent name and company name were also on the front label but not intrusive at all.

These wax melts are the harder type of wax, which I actually prefer from Goose Creek. The wax was a light pink color and the clamshell itself was pretty full.

Authenticity

On cold sniff I noted a soft, sweet floral scent – nothing heady or perfumey. I wasn’t able to pick out much more than that going in cold. Looking at the scent description:

A handwritten devotion lies among elegant, hand-picked blooms.

Top:Rich Peonies, Jasmine

Mid:Spring Lily, Green Leaves

Base:White Sandalwood, White Woods

Goose Creek Candle Company

The scent description didn’t give much away other than it being a floral fragrance. I found the top/middle/base notes interesting because I wasn’t getting all that depth on cold sniff. Still I knew that warming the wax sometimes makes all the difference.

Once the wax started warming, I immediately fell in love. It was soooo beautiful! It was a sweet floral scent, almost candy sweet. I really think between the peonies and jasmine that jasmine was the more prominent note. I could pick out the smell of the peonies as well, though. There were some very slight hints of green notes in the Love Letters wax melt. The scent was AMAZING!

I did not get any of the warmer or woody notes that are mentioned in the scent breakdown. No sandalwood or white woods to my nose. I’m not saying they weren’t there – I just couldn’t pick them out individually and not sure how they interacted with this sweet floral concoction anyway. Regardless, I found this an absolutely beautiful floral fragrance and one that I really didn’t want to stop melting.

Scent Strength & Scent Throw

My Love Letters wax melt was a fairly strong fragrance. The scent notes were strong enough to make a good presence in the room without being overbearing or obnoxious. I used 2 cubes of the wax melt in a 20W hotplate melter. I had my melter in a large, open living space.

I noticed that the fragrance permeated all throughout the lower level of my home. I could smell it no matter what part of the house I was in! This scent was really strong with a great throw, but again – not overpowering. A lot of floral fragrances are too much for me, but I put this one right up there with Trapp’s Bob’s Flower Shoppe strength-wise.

Melt Performance

I used two cubes and got fabulous scent throw from those two. I probably could have used one cube and still had pretty good results. The melts lasted several hours non-stop in the hotplate melter – almost 6 hours before I noticed a drop off. I still had scent after that, but it was starting to fade a bit. Overall that tells me I could get a lot of mileage out of this one clamshell package.

Conclusion

I am absolutely in love with these Love Letter wax melts from Goose Creek Candle Company. I foundCandlefind Editor's Choice the scent such a beautiful, sweet floral, and it was nice and strong without being headache-inducing. The melts lasted a good long time in my melter, too. I want to buy this fragrance in bulk, lol. I do think I’ll buy the Love Letters large jar candle at some point down the road to see if it lives up to the wax melt hype. Another Editor’s Choice in the books!
