First impression of Debbie Gibson, Lost in your Eyes:
It must be disclosed right off the bat that I am a HUGE 80’s girl (it’s my era) and Debbie Gibson was definitely a big part of my teenage life. Ladies from the 80’s… you know what I’m talking about. For those of you who don’t, quite a few of Debbie Gibson’s songs personified the pop culture of that era… at least I think so. She was a great teen role model, wholesome, adorable and an all-American girl with the voice of an angel. So, remembering her music brought back some seriously fond memories. If you’re curious about her music, head on over to Itunes and check out a few of her biggest hits.
Lost in your Eyes is the name of Shining Sol’s candle I’ll be reviewing. This song was a classic and one of her biggest hits. It’s a love song and to this day I could probably sing it verbatim. Oh, the memories!! When Pete from Shining Sol sent me this candle, I was really excited to review it – plus what great timing with Debbie being on Dancing with the Stars this season. She was second to get voted out but I still watched just to see her dance and thought she was great!
Okay, back to this candle… here is the scent description from Shining Sol’s website:
I created this candle exclusively for you with Shining Sol. The “Lost In Your Eyes” candle is a fresh, crisp blend of Apple and Clover, mixed with smooth and inviting Egyptian Amber. I hope you enjoy burning this candle as much as I enjoyed helping to create it!” – Warmly, Debbie
First impression… this candle definitely smelled fruity with apple standing out the most. It was very sweet and fresh, my favorite kind of fruity scent. I liked it… now let’s see how it performs.
I lit this candle in a small bathroom to start out and ended up leaving it there till the very end. Want to note, I could easily have moved this candle to a larger room but chose small for maximum scent throw and I definitely achieved that. Once the wood wick was lit, it took not even ten minutes to reach a full melt pool and the scent…. LOVED!! This aroma really came to life once the candle was burning and boy was it spectacular. This was not your average apple scent… you could clearly smell the apple but blended with Egyptian amber really gave it an elegant flair that literally made this scent. It was fresh and beautiful all at the same time. 100% loved!!
Strength – this candle gave a great scent throw. I would rate it 10 out of 10 in a small room. 8 in a medium room and I think you could even get away with burning it in a large room if you wanted to, it would just be a softer aroma.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
Debbie Gibson… Debbie Gibson who? That was me while burning this candle. I got so caught up in the actual aroma, I forgot who it was created for. The description says Debbie helped create the blend with Shining Sol and I must say… kudos to her, she obviously has a knack for it.
In closing… Lost in your Eyes was perfect and different enough to captivate you, meaning, this was not your average apple scent… it was so much more. I loved it!! Apple lovers… I highly recommend this candle. And bonus, it’s a wood wick so you get the wonderful sound effects that come with it. That snap, crackle and pop.
Happy candle hunting!
