What did my candle smell like?

I have a girlfriend who LOVES Jim Beam telling me all the time that’s basically all she drinks. I’ve never really cared for hard liquor but it always stuck in my head how popular this brand is so when a rep from Candleberry contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I’d like to review a candle, I of course said yes. When I jumped on their site to look around and saw their whole line of Jim Beam candles… I knew I had to review one.

I have to tell you, it was really hard choosing a candle… all their fragrances sounded amazing. But, I forced myself to pick just one and went with Maple. I’m a bakery girl and figured I’d get the best of both worlds… a famous Jim Beam fragrance blended with Candleberry’s signature sweet maple. YUM!!!!!

Very detailed description – I love it!!

When I first received my package, I immediately smelled the Maple fragrance wafting from the box and I hadn’t even pulled out the candle or opened the lid yet. It was a “wow” moment!! The aroma that drifted around me was so sweet and mouthwatering, it drew me in. After I removed it from the box, I set the candle on my kitchen counter for a full week before I actually lit it and every time I was in the kitchen where it was, I could smell the sweet maple scent teasing my nose. And that was with the lid still sealed ON it!! Holy cow!! I found myself (almost every time) picking up the candle to smell it – letting out a few Mmm’s and “wow’s” in the process. After reading the description above, I can totally see why their Maple scent is so famous. It’s amazing. And after reading it is known to fill a huge home, I couldn’t wait to light this candle.

Time to find out how it performs!!

I lit this candle in my large master bedroom hoping the legend behind their maple scent proved true and oh my goodness… it DID!! Within 10 minutes of lighting the wick, the scent started traveling throughout my bedroom. Within an hour, it was room saturation. After that… the aroma started spilling outside of my bedroom into every other parts of the upper level of my home. Basically… this scent completely took over my home. Completely!!!! Just to be clear, the aroma wasn’t as strong as the room it was burning in but you could definitely smell it clearly… just a little more subtly.

The aroma…… WOW!! Sweet maple blended with a spicy aroma I’m guessing was the charred oak from the description. It was pretty amazing! Not sure I smelled the bourbon but I sure did the maple and charred oak and it was unique and wonderful. Sweet and sugary golden maple with hints of spicy oak. The dominant note was the super SUPER sweet maple and it was heaven candle lovers… heaven!! Each day I had this candle burning, I was drawn to the aroma. I found excuses to go into my bedroom just to smell the air in appreciation. I know I have a winner when that happens. LOVED this candle!!

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, this candle is a 10 for sure. It was room saturation strong. Loved it!!

How did my candle burn?

My candle burned great. The wick stayed true from start to finish with a little trim before each lighting. It also burned clean and evenly from beginning to end. A+ on burn performance.

Another bonus… this candle burned fairly slowly so it lasted much longer than I expected. I’m pretty sure the life span lasted a good ten days and that was burning it every day non stop. Keep in mind should you do that… always watch the wicks and trim them. That’s one of the biggest mistakes people make is not paying attention to the wicks by keeping them trimmed. That right there will lengthen the lifespan of your candle and keep it soot free.

Closing to my review:

I have to say, this was a near perfect first experience for me but then I chose an amazing candle to review that I didn’t want to end. I seriously could have burned this candle for weeks and would have been totally content. The scent was fabulous…. a rich and sweet maple with the perfect touch of spicy oak. So different and unique. 

I highly recommend this candle if you love sweet aromas and you like your candles strongly scented. I think when I go back, (and I will go back) I may have to pick up their classic maple just to see what the difference would be. I’m intrigued, maybe even a little bit in love… and still drooling a little as well.

Maple lovers… you must try this scent!!

I have one more candle to review which I’ll probably start in the next month or so. The scent…. Carolina Sugar Cane Mist. It smells summery and fresh with a hint of floral. Until then….

This candle gets 5 starts across the board. Presentation was great, it smelled beyond authentic, burned perfect and the strength was out of this world!! Loved it!!
