I had taken a hiatus from buying any 3-wick candles from Bath & Body Works because they seemed to have many of the same scents on repeat. With the prices rising, I figured I could spend my money elsewhere for more variety and value. Sales have always been my Achilles’ heel, so when I saw a super sale for the three wicks, I snagged a few, including this Ice Cream Bar candle. It arrived quickly and man, I’m sooo happy I went back in for these candles. I do love them, and this one was fantastic! Since it is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, we thought it was fitting to get this review up today.

Packaging/Presentation
The candle I tried was their 3-wick candle…the ones we have come to know and love! It had the cutest design, with a cartoonish ice cream truck and a couple of ice cream cones on the label. The wax on the website looked pastel orange in color, but my wax was more of a creamy tan color. The lid was silver and non-decorative – just the Bath & Body Works name embossed in it. The wicks were fairly thick and well placed. The bottom of the jar had the scent notes on the sticker, which I always appreciate!
Authenticity
The cold sniff of this candle reminded me of a vanilla milkshake – creamy and with a thick sweetness. It was swoon-worthy! Looking at the scent description, I found:

I wasn’t smelling any chocolate on cold sniff. I lit the candle and it started putting out scent almost immediately! The scent was soooooo good! I could smell a creamy, smooth vanilla scent that was slightly sweet. I did get hints of a smooth chocolate scent every now and then…it was not predominant at all, but it was delicious. I would describe it as a milk chocolate scent. Graham crackers? Not so much. Still, this scent was fantastic and I wanted to get a spoon to dip into the wax!
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
I compare most of my Bath & Body Works candles with the scent Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, because I found that one to be super duper strong. My Ice Cream Bar candle was not that strong, but it didn’t lag too far behind. If I rated PPW a 10 scent-wise, this Ice Cream Bar candle would fall in around a 6. It was strong enough to be quite enjoyable and to be the main attraction while burning.
The scent throw itself was fantastic! It filled a pretty large bedroom with its mouthwatering scent. At one point, I left the door to the bedroom open and I could smell the candle fragrance on down the hall. Sweet!
Burn Performance
I got a complete wax melt pool in a relatively short period of time. The pool was medium sized and very even. I trimmed my wicks short to start and then just had to keep them trimmed in between 3-4 hour burns. The flames stayed manageable and I never noticed any black soot.
I have a love-hate sort of feeling about the burn time on these candles. For one, the super fast burn makes me feel like I didn’t really get my money’s worth. Then again, it just clears my shelf and makes room for more candles! So, if you’re like me and want to change out scents very quickly, these 3-wick candles may be just the thing for you. Conclusion
I absolutely LOVED this Ice Cream Bar candle from Bath & Body Works. The vanilla scent was rich and creamy, the burn was flawless, and the throw was fantastic. Will it fit the bill as a chocolate ice cream candle? Not to my nose, but then I do see plenty of reviews where people notice more of the chocolate notes. I do wish these candles wouldn’t burn down so fast, but I do think they are a great bargain if on super sale. This is a particular fragrance I would like to burn over & over again!
