Introduction to my Harry & David review:

I think everyone knows who Harry & David is. They only sell the most delicious pears on the planet as well as decadent gourmet treats (especially around Christmas time.)  You see the label “Harry & David” on a gift basket, you scored there pal!! Big time!  Chocolate Raspberry scented candle from Harry & David

I was really surprised a couple of years ago when I saw a display of Harry & David candles at my local grocery store… when I read “Harry & David” on the label and saw the scents, my eyes bugged out. You know several went into my cart that day, (review can be read here) and I decided right after, I wanted to review all their other scents for Candlefind. Chocolate Raspberry was my latest acquisition and couldn’t wait to get this baby home to start burning it.

Harry & David candles can be a wee bit difficult to purchase online… I think they’re mostly sold in stores – –  where exactly is hard to say because the main Harry & David site doesn’t really tell you. My local Safeway grocery store carries 6 scents and that’s where I’ve been getting mine.

This candle is really pretty. It’s square glass jar with a copper color flat lid with the Harry & David Logo embossed in the center of the lid. The candle is double wicked (which I love) and the wax color is a rich and beautiful raspberry pink color. (I took the picture to the left after I had been burning it a full day so forgive the poor quality) I couldn’t find any other pictures on the net so had to make do.

What did my Chocolate Raspberry candle from Harry & David smell like?

I have to say before I begin, this is normally not a scent I would outright buy… I don’t really care for chocolate scents in any form. I bought it because it happened to be on sale and it was Harry & David. In my experience, most chocolate/fruit scented candles tend Chocolate Raspberry scented candle from Harry & Davidto smell fake or synthetic. It never gets pulled off quite right… to my picky nose anyway. But when I popped open the lid to smell it for the first time, I was intrigued… it smelled really yummy. The raspberry smelled creamy, sweet and true with hints of chocolate in the background. Like real raspberries dipped in chocolate.

I couldn’t find a scent description anywhere online and the candle doesn’t list one. I do know Harry & David are known for their Raspberry Truffles so I’m assuming this scent was created to resemble it.

I’ve had this candle burning for a few days now and it’s pretty good. The scent does change a tiny bit when burning… the raspberry really dominates with very little chocolate which was fine by me. Scent strength on a scale of 1 to 10 was around a 6… not super strong but strong enough that you notice the scent the moment you walk in the room. This candle is absolutely gorgeous burning. The wax takes on a dark pink that was striking to look at with the flames going. Loved how it burned.

This candle burned wonderfully. Perfect clean burn with zero wasted wax. Very little wick maintenance too. A+ for sure!!

Closing to my review:

I am loving Harry & David candles and can’t wait to try more. I Two thumbs up to Harry & David candles!highly recommend you give these candles a try should you run across a display close to home. They aren’t easy to find but well worth it when you do. So far, I’ve loved every scent I’ve tried.Would I buy Chocolate Raspberry again? Probably. I wasn’t super “ga-ga” over the scent itself but it burned great and was pretty true. If you’re a fruity/chocolate fan, you would probably flip over this scent. For sure give it a try if you find it in your area.

Happy Candle smelling!!

  1. Bought this as a splurge at our local grocery store. I’m very happy with this candle. It has a lovely warm chocolate and raspberry scent…not too strong but has a nice scent when you walk into the room. I’m picky when it comes to candles and don’t like when the smell is too overwhelming. This one is perfect. Down side is I’ve been trying to purchase another one online but am only able to find it on ebay and at much higher prices than what I paid for this one. Also, the grocery store I made the initial purchase at has not restocked this scent. So, lovely candle but very difficult to find.
