French Vanilla Bean Drizzle Melts Review

First impression of French Vanilla Bean:
I’m always a sucker for a creamy vanilla scent so as soon as I spied French Vanilla Bean on Swan Creek’s website, I nabbed a drizzle melt pack to review. In case you didn’t already know… I’m loving Swan Creek’s drizzle melts. They’re large clamshell packs so you really get your money’s worth out of melting and they’re definitely a lot stronger vs their candles. For us waxy lovers… that’s always a good thing.
Okay… onto the scent! French Vanilla Bean is described as:
Our original vanilla fragrance, just like the ice cream, you can’t go wrong with this!
Ice cream? Hmm. Smelling the wax, I smelled a definite vanilla but it didn’t smell anything like ice cream. It wasn’t sweet or creamy like I imagine vanilla ice cream to smell. I don’t want to say the wax smelled chemically but it definitely had a weird twang to it I wasn’t sure I cared for. So, it will be interesting to see what flavor comes to life once melting.
Which happens right now!
Melting:
Once the wax was placed in my melters, it took a good a good 20 minutes to really start noticing the aroma and unfortunately, I still wasn’t too crazy about it. First, the strength was very light and that forced me closer to the melter to really gauge the scent. Once I did, the “twangy” notes I detected on cold sniff remained and (for me,) this aroma lacked the sweetness I always crave in a vanilla scent. It was also a very light to really appreciate. I had to be right around my melter to even smell it. My fourteen year old son even weighed in. He smelled the wax prior to melting and he didn’t care for it either. He said it smelled very bitter and not at all like vanilla ice cream. So there you have it. Two noses who basically came to the same conclusion.
Strength – This scent wasn’t very strong which is typical with most vanilla fragrances. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate these melts a 4 in a really large room. 6 in a medium and 8 in a small.
You win some, you lose some I guess. This wasn’t a horrid vanilla by any means but keeping it real, it was a little boring and one I don’t recommend if you love sweet or bakery vanilla scents. I won’t be purchasing this one again. Sorry Swan Creek.
Happy melting!
