The Tale of the Emoticons Game

Recommended Posts

Create a story using emoticons!

How to play:

The beginning of the story starts off with one emoticon. The first poster then ends with another emoticon. The next poster must use that last emoticon to keep the story going.

Remember at the end of each post, choose another emoticon. The person behind you will have to use that emoticon to keep the story going.

Try to keep this as one, long story - not several short ones. Hope that makes sense and have fun!

Once upon a time, Jane was very excited because she knew that she had a very large package coming from one of her favorite candlemakers! She was so excited, she couldn't eat or sleep.

She stopped cooking and cleaning. Her family got very hungry and dirty. Jane finally came to her senses and apologized to her family. [smilie=th_coffeespew] She thoroughly cleaned the house and made a magnificent meal.

But Jane never cooks or cleans, so when her husband came home he said:  . He was worried that something awful had happened. He decided he must do something very nice for Jane!

Since it was almost Jane's birthday, Jane's husband, Jack, decided he would call Jane's BF and ask her help with giving Jane a surprise birthday party [smilie=party] . Jack was only planning on a few of their closest friends, but it seems their children got wind of the party and posted the details on Facebook .

Jane & Jack's children tended to be little hooligans. After coming up with a plan, they got back on the computer [smilie=th_ecd36868] and asked everyone to come as their favorite children's storybook character, as it was going to be a costume party.

Jane & Jack were sleeping soundly [smilie=th_e16] when they heard the doorbell ringing. You see, their children had told everyone that the party began at 11 PM! Jane and Jack were furious! They began to turn everyone away, until Jane saw that many of them were carrying candles...

Since it was Jane's birthday and everyone was bringing Jane candles, Jack and Jane let their friends in and Jack decided to be the nice guy for a change and start the coffee [smilie=th_316785e4] . Everyone was having such a wonderful time that no one looked outside until it was time to leave and there it was - 24 inches of snow so Jack, being really tired, and not knowing what else to do turned to Jane and said that everyone would just have to spend the night. Jane just stood there looking at him [smilie=th_e16]

Jane thought Jack just might have lost his mind. 'Well, that's a great idea, Jack, [smilie=th_aa17] just where will all these people sleep?' Then Jack reminded her that he used to be a boy Scout leader and had all that camping gear, including sleeping bags, packed away in the basement. He had just made it down the stairs to the basement, when the electricity suddenly went off.

Fortunately, since Jack had been a Boy Scout, he kept a flashlight in the basement. He was able to start gathering the gear and was coming back up the stairs when he heard screaming and yelling. Seems all the children were afraid of the dark and giving in to awful imaginings such as [smilie=th_huganimal] and even worse!

Once the children were feeling better and all the gear was brought upstairs, things settled down for awhile.

Jack further calmed all the children down by burning a soothing, spa fragrance wax tart and explained to them that when they saw such monsterous images they needed to just plug their ears, close their eyes and say [smilie=th_LaLaLa] .

Once all the children had been calmed by the soothing spa fragrance and tucked into their sleeping bags, a hush came over the house and slowly, everyone drifted off for a few hours of much needed sleep. When everyone awoke, the children started looking for Jack, Jr.'s faithful companion, Rusty. They looked high and low, behind the furniture and under the beds, but Rusty was nowhere in sight. Then, Jack, Sr. remembered Rusty had followed him down into the basement when he went to get the sleeping bags and must have gotten locked down there. When Jane opened the basement door, in bounced Rusty heading straight for little Jack knocking him over with his big sloppy kisses and the two of them were once again inseparable [smilie=th_thanimeomega_emoticon .

With all the excitement of Rusty enthusiastically greeting little Jack, no one noticed the little leprechaun [smilie=th_autumboy] that jumped off Rusty when he came upstairs. Ever since someone had claimed the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the leprechaun had wandered aimlessly in the woods. One day he discovered Jack Sr's campground and took the opportunity to crawl inside one of the sleeping bags and fell asleep and had been trapped inside ever since. When Jack unpacked the sleeping bags he was able to get out, jumped onto Rusty and now would be free again. He had a plan to collect all of Jane's candles and was sure he would be able to sell enough of them to make lots of money to fill another pot of gold.

Sweet - you are just too funny!!

As the week went by, Jane started to realize that her candles would disappear. First, she blamed it on Rusty wagging his tail and knocking the candles off the table and breaking them, but one day a candle disappeared when Rusty was at doggy daycare, so then she blamed Jack, Jr. for being glumsy and breaking the candle. Poor Jack, Jr. was just out of luck when it came to his mom and her candles missing, but then Jane noticed a candle missing while Jack, Jr. was outside playing with his friends so then she turned to her husband, Jack, Sr. and blamed him for the missing candles. Then one day while Jack, Sr. was at work, Jane noticed another candle missing. Jane was becoming extremely frustrated and pulling her hair out [smilie=th_WE1summer013] because her cherished candles kept disappearing. As Jack was putting all the sleeping bags back down in the basement, he noticed one of Jane's candles peeping out from the zipper and then, he knew the leprechaun's plan to steal the candles and sell them on EBAY for big bucks.

**Tobe - [smilie=iagree] We can write plots w/the best of em - I think one of the soap opera's should hire us. [smilie=th_TONGUE22111] **

Jack secretly thought Jane had WAY too many candles and thought this would be a good opportunity to free up some storage space currently being used by Jane's every growing collection, so he suggested that he help Sean (the leprechaun) sell the candles. Sean had neglected to read the fine print , and it specifically excluded leprechauns from selling wares on ebay, so he'd need Jack's help. Sean also thought he'd found a new best friend. [smilie=th_sSig_what] Poor Sean didn't have a clue that Jack had a plot to claim the pot of gold made from selling the candles.

Alas, what a wicked web we weave when it is a leprechaun we intend to deceive! That poor little leprechaun spent the next few days daydreaming about how he would spend his Ebay profits, even going so far as to book a long dreamed of trip to Ireland on Travelocity.

But one afternoon, Sean the Leprechaun overheard Jack talking on a phone call to the folks at the Yankee Candle headquarters in Deerfield, Mass. Sean couldn't believe his pointy little ears when he overheard Jack making arrangements for his wife, Jane, to be surprised with a private, VIP factory tour and $500 YC shopping spree for their tenth wedding anniversary next month! Could it be that Jack's pretense of being tired of all Jane's candles was only a ruse? It was not lost on Sean that Jack's "generous" venture was to be funded with the very candles Sean stole from Jane! The nerve of that man!

Sean decided it was time that Jack tasted a dose of his own medicine! [smilie=th_TONGUE22111] For the next week, Sean sneaked various melts out of the hidden stash and melted them together in in nauseating combinations, such as Ocean Breeze with Pralines and Cream. Jack search high and low, but could not find where Sean the Leprechaun had stashed the tart burner.

Candlefan and Sweet - you are both hard acts to follow!

EEWW! Jane exclaimed after smelling that last awful concoction made by Sean. She had no idea what was going on between Jack and Sean and the missing tarts or why her house had such an awful stench! It was bad enough that her candles had been missing, but now her ever voluminous stash of tarts that she had hidden in the tart closet was disappearing right before her eyes. Was she going crazy? Had she become forgetful and actually melted those tarts and forgotten about it? Unbeknownst to Jack, Jane had been putting aside money each month for the two of them to go to one of the islands for their 10th anniversary for some sun and fun . She now thought that she was losing her mind and a vacation was just what she needed. She was tired of all the snow and had arranged for her parents to watch Jack, Jr. while they were away.

Suddenly, as weather tends to do, it went from cold and snowy to hot and sunny. Jane got out the fans [smilie=th_drinks] to try and cool the house off. But, that only made the obnoxious scent combinations Sean was melting intolerable. Sean had had it with these candle crazy people. Old Jack wasn't going to be using any of that Boy Scout camping equipment any more, so, Sean sold it all on Ebay, making bundles of money from the vintage items. He contacted his old gnome buddy and they both set off on the trip Sean had booked on Travelocity. Meanwhile, Jack and Jane's 10th anniversary was quickly approaching.

After all they had been through with little Sean, the missing candles and the surprise sleepover because of snow, Jack could wait no longer to tell Jane about his wonderful gift to her for their 10th anniversary. Once she opened the package, Jane was so excited! A trip to her beloved Yankee Candle factory for a VIP tour and $500. What more could a girl ask for (besides a trip to the islands). Anyway, since Jack was so proud of himself for putting together this package, Jane decided to wait to give Jack her anniversary gift later. Their anniversary was still a few weeks away so Jack really didn't pressure her. She seemed so excited about his gift that he just enjoyed being in the limelight for a while. A few days before Jack and Jane were to leave on their trip, Jack started to feel really bad. He was coughing, sneezing and running a fever [smilie=th_drinks] . Jane made a pot of her chicken soup but it was really hard for Jack to keep even Jane's wonderful chicken soup down. The day before they were to leave, Jack looked at Jane and told her there was no way he could make the trip. Jack realized how much Jane was looking forward to the trip. She had taken a week off from work so he told her to call one of her friends to go with her. Jane gave Jack her look of sorrow telling him that no way was she leaving him, but Jack insisted. Once Jane closed the bedroom door behind her, her look of sadness became a jump for joy. You see, she really was not looking forward to a trip to YC with her husband. He would impatiently rush her through the shopping part of the tour. Even though he enjoyed her scents, he was a guy and just did not like shopping. Excitedly, Jane called her best friend Sally who also shared Jane's love of scents and told her the situation. Sally was ecstatic and said she would love go with Jane.

Sally suddenly realized it was her 14th wedding anniversary and she was supposed to have a lovely dinner with her husband. Sally thought it over...anniversary dinner with DH...YC shopping trip...anniversary dinner with DH...YC shopping trip. The choice was simple. Sally needed to ditch her husband. She immediately told Jane what she planned to do and admitted [smilie=superman]. Sally's husband was visibly upset, but she vowed to bring him at least two large jar candles to make up for it. So off they went!

Since they had to go thru NY on their way to the YC store in Deerfield, Mass, they decided to stop overnight in NYC and went to a show at Radio City Music Hall. [smilie=th_cocktail] . Years ago, Sally had been somewhat of a local celebrity because of her talents in singing and dancing.

Sally and Jane were having such fun that they didn't want the night to end. After the show, they took a trip to the top of the Empire State Building. Before heading to their hotel, they decided to visit the restaurant at the top of the Marriott Hotel in Times Square. The restaurant is on the top floor and slowly rotates giving you an entire view of the City at night. They decided they would end the evening with a toast [smilie=th_cocktail] since they were both celebrating an anniversary - well, sort of.

Jane and Sally were still very excited about their visit to the YC store the next day and were definitely in a party mood. After toasting their upcoming anniversary's, they toasted their very generous husbands. Then they toasted their loving children. Then they toasted their favorite YC scents. Being very organized ladies and just a little OC, they went in alphabetical order....Autumn Gold :? ...Autumn Leaves [smilie=th_cocktail] ...Autumn Wreath [smilie=th_cocktail] ...Be Thankful [smilie=th_cocktail] . They hadn't even gotten to the the letter C yet and were feeling very happy and more than a little tipsy. Sally had a seat by the window and exclaimed that she was SURE she just saw Superman fly by outside the restaurant window! [smilie=superman]

Sally was a bit of a Superman groupie, so she was bound and determined to get an autograph. She grabbed her purse, a Sharpie, and a handful of Yankee tarts and was out the door before Jane could say tartburner. Sally began frantically running about calling out for Superman. She ran in the direction of where she thought she spotted him. Jane was trying to keep up, but Sally seemed a bit too light on her feet. Soon Jane spotted Sally standing near some tall metal object chattering away. It was then that Jane realized Sally had mistaken the flag on a flagpole as Superman's cape. When Jane made it within earshot, she tried to explain to Sally the reality of the situation. Sally, thinking that Jane just wanted Superman all to herself, simply told her to [smilie=th_prod_107_1676] . It was near about this time that Jane noticed a police officer walking their way.
