November's Feast of Scents

Recommended Posts

Tonight I am melting SSS Candy Cane and its the most perfect Candy Cane scent. Its not super strong, but delicious. It smells exactly like a candy cane, perfect! Not too much mint and not all sweet vanilla. Its jut like a new red/white candy cane. I love it.

Also burning a candle from CBV in Magnolia Blossom. Its beautiful and scenting my bedroom up nicely. I can't wait to go to sleep.

I woke up with a bout of Vertigo this morning. I have had vertigo off and on through out my life, but it seems perimenopause is making is worse. I woke up this morning and almost screamed and then held my head between my hands, so it wouldn't move. THEN, my back started bothering me today from cleaning this weekend. Well, I cannot stop cleaning. So, I suffer. Anyone else go thru these problems during their mid 40's. Please tell me yes, someone.

I am totally exhausted from feeling like crap and am going to start looking for a good chiropractor and getting into my ob/gyn and a physical with my internist. I am tired of feeling like this. I'm too young to start falling apart already. Sorry to ramble. Told you I was gone for a reason...............LOL.

mpfand...sounds like a great trip! thumbs.gif Krogers...I remember shopping in that store when I was a kid. We don't have them in the south.

LOL sharonana! Oh you better not come to Texas and tell them here they're not the South! When I moved here, I thought I was moving to the West. People here quickly corrected that mistaken information. Yeah, we have Kroger's here.

I switched out to LOL's Oatmeal Scotchies for the evening.

Okay mamalana! happy-048.gif Do you think I could get away with it if I said we lived "souther"?lol-049.gif

I went to basic training and tech school in Texas when I was in the air force.

Honestly, I don't recall seeing a Krogers store since I left Illinois......and that was over 30 years ago. [smilie=grrr]

Maurie, I just had vertigo last week. I went to an ENT thinking I had an inner ear infection but had a crystal(?) that had broken off. he got it out and flushed the ear. Vertigo is awful. it's scary. it makes you so nauseated. Are you familiar with Cawthorne's exercises? I didn't have to do them but kept the instruction paper in case I ever have it in the future. It some sort of exercise you do with your eyes, and and in different positions that helps the body compensate for the vertigo, thus lessening it. I'm sure you can google it to find the instructions. I didn't know until last week either that it can be a genetic thing too. anyone else in your family w/vertigo problems?

Yea tunisianswife, my mom suffered from it here and there too. My mom, myself and my youngest son also suffer from the worst motion sickness you can ever imagine. Also had migraines when I was younger. Its definately genetic and thats why I am not so alarmed that its something bad, but at the same time I'm fed up. I am going to look up those exercises right now. Thanks for the info.

Maurie,

My DD is only 27 and she has vertigo so severely since July that she is using a walker. We have been to the family doctor, her cardiologist, a neurologist, her ob/gyn and now to the third ENT. The last one diagnosed Meniere's syndrome, and said he could do no more for her than putting her on a diuretic, a prescription allergy medicine and a low salt diet. I asked for a referral to another specialist. This ENT said he isn't sure it is Meniere's, and he is starting from scratch.

From watching what she is going through, I can tell you that my heart goes out to you. Make them check everything.

evening, all. I love coming here and reading about everyone's daily activities, as well as what's melting/burning, of course. some great scents.

I was a slug today. I schlepped all day long. first rainy day we have had in ages; that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I am not a movie type person but i watched a movie on HBO based on real life events. what the Lord made or something to that affect. very very good!

I started out melting buttercream frosting type but honestly, it smelled just like rancid butter or parmesan cheese! there was not one iota of sweet in it at all. It had to go, along with the entire bag of it. I thought on cold sniff that it was smelling like cheese but gave it a try. and it was a strooong throw too. oh gosh, just thinking of it...blah.

now melting Carol's blueberry vanilla bomb. I love this one; all of her blueberries, in fact.

have a good eve, all. I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee with sugar free french vanilla. yeah, me who hates flavored creamers. see? another thing you folks turned me onto. I don't care for this though; it's international delight but I can't keep buying them full sugar and fat. lol

Tunisian,

The same thing happened to me. I was melting Buttercream Cupcakes and all that I smell is rancid oil. I had to dump it. Sadly I had bought three becacuse they sounded so good.2f25d32362bbc2b8a0859fd6b01c84d4.gif

Good Evening All!

Kim~ Thanks for the info on CHC....she has a few scents I really like so I'm glad to know the wax is better!

Tunisianswife~ I agree with you on the "cream" scents...I have NOT had any luck with them....they usually smell like sour milk to me. [smilie=grrr] Oh...I have seen "Something the Lord Made" too. I thought it was a good movie. It has Mos Def and "Snape" from Harry Potter! What did you think?

Maurie~ I hope you feel better....and YES I am falling apart too! I think my body knew when I turned 40 cause all of a sudden "BAM" my eyes when crazy and I got rickety.

Melting CHS Hot Apple Pie and Carmel Apple today. The Carmel Apple was so strong I had to turn it off. Will put it on again later. Lit a Strudel & Spice candle.

Have a nice evening!

I think the reason I don't like buttercream is because I get that sour smell, too. Blech.

A trip down memory lane - Illuminations Dulce Leche candle

The melt of the evening was Cozy's Caramel Apple.

Hi CF Friends!

Starting out the day with CCCC Almond Nog Pastries and burning YC Buttercream, Slatkin Creamy Nutmeg, YC Almond Cookie and GC Spiced Eggnog.

I hope everyone enjoys their day!

I just noticed that my kitchen cabinet where I was Burning the GC candle last night had turned all black. It and the backsplash were full of soot. I just gave it a good cleaning and cleaned the jar and trimmed the wicks. I hope this doesn't happen again.

Marie and Lana: I hope relief is soon for the Vertigo. There are so many conditions that seem to be showing up in so many younger women. Please, don't get me started on the mammogram thing.

 [smilie=grrr]

This morning I am melting CHC new wax--Sugared Spruce. I'll report findings later I'm off to my massage therapist in a bit. Have a great morning everyone.

good morning, all.

Sharon, that is too funny regarding the baking. what a way to burst someone's bubble. lol

I actually love any of Nene's buttercream type products, as well as Crosscreek. they smell buttery and sweet. this one had no sweet in it at all and a bad oil for sure.

starting out this morning with Nene's Creole Cream. I still haven't gotten any t lights for the other melters I use in the bath and bedroom. I even was desperate the other day and was going to get a bag of candle-lite @CVS (which don't burn long) but they were out.

have a good day, all. another drizzly day today but I have to get in gear and get my sty cleaned.

Morning, everyone! Burning BBW Leaves today. This has to be one of my favorite scents ever--makes me feel so warm & cozy!

MaggieMae, I will have to add "Something the Lord Made" to our Netflix queue. I love Alan Rickman (Snape from the Harry Potter movies)--he's one of my favorite actors!

Maurie, my mom suffers with vertigo as well. She is in her early fifties now, but IIRC it did start when she was in her forties. I hope you feel better soon--that is rough stuff!

I am burning the Macintosh large jar from YC that was the special edition for $5.00. Not getting any scent from this one at all and Macintosh is usually one of my favorites. Maybe just a bad batch??

I'm melting Vanilla Shortbread from Slatkin's.

Sharonana - I'm surprised that there are no Kroger stores in Alabama. They are all over the place here in Georgia. I was there yesterday and bought some "two bite brownies". They are absolutely yummy.

I bought a box of tealights at Walmart this morning. I prefer the ones from B&BW but I didn't feel like going there today.
