I usually get a real pumpkin and then carve it about a week before Halloween. But once carved, they rot so fast and it's not like I have kids to worry about, so this year I got a plug-in Jack-o-lantern! No muss, no fuss!

I am planning on a trip to the pumpkin patch soon. I would skip the messy things but my kids have such a great time with it, their excitement is contagious.
