Good morning, everyone!

Today was kind of a discouraging morning. We had a speech therapy appointment for DS # 1, since his language is behind, and it was a very emotional visit. Even though the formal assessments haven't been made, and he has no red flags for some more serious issues, it is just disheartening having to go through this process. I think, when having a baby, you expect that there will be no issues with your kid (health/development), but you just never know what you're going to have to overcome.th_sad2hz1.gif The good thing is that he's only three, so he's at the earliest age he can get free therapy from the school system (which has a lot of programs).

Love your Avatar too Jules :)

Jules - Me too! [smilie=yes] When I first got on this page I saw your shark avatar, but when Becky commented that pic was hanging in her kitchen I thought...hmmm....ok, everyone's likes/dislikes are different. [smilie=th_pardon] I'm glad I refreshed the page and saw your new avatar....now it all makes sense! It looks familiar...do U know who the artist is?

Biolaeagles - Try and not be discouraged. [smilie=th_bighug-1] Your DS is so young....a lot can change before he begins school and if help is needed... like U said, it's a wonderful thing it's available.

I'm melting Scentsy's Frosted Ginger Cookie from a CF pal (TY!). This smells so realistic...not a gingerbread, but a real ginger cookie! [smilie=th_dancing_smile]

That's funny, Sweet. imagining a shark picture hanging in Becky's kitchen. th_Skratta_Bankabordet.gif After you asked about the picture, I was curious and found it on Wikipedia. I didn't realize it was a photograph.

Grace is a 1918 photograph by Eric Enstrom. It depicts an elderly man, Charles Wilden, with hands folded, saying a prayer over a table with a simple meal. It was taken in Bovey, Minnesota. Originally black-and-white, the photo was colorized by hand by Enstrom's daughter, Rhoda Nyberg. It was this colorized version that attained widespread distribution.[1] In 2002, an act of the Minnesota State Legislature established it as the state photograph.[2] It is featured on road signs in Bovey.

Biolaeagles, I'm sorry you've had a tough day of it. It's hard seeing your child struggle. Hang in there.

Hi, all! It's been crazy lately, starting with my modem going out, travel, work, etc. so haven't been melting as much wax as usual.

Cookie, great thread title! I'm working on being more thankful on a daily basis, so it's a good reminder [smilie=th_i-m_so_happy]

Aria, Ozzy is adorable

Biolaeagles, hang in there [smilie=th_empathy] A friend of mine had her youngest in speech therapy for a few years and he loved it--it really increased his confidence when he started school.

A new kitty came to live with me last week. Linus is a very timid rescue who had a tough time early on, including having an eye infection that has permanently damaged his right eye. My vet's IT guy was fostering him, but he has 2 other cats who push Linus away so he hasn't bonded well. They thought I'd be a good match because he's the only cat and I'm pretty low key (i.e. boring [smilie=th_biggestgrin]) So far, he's mostly staying under my bed and coming out at night to explore, but he doesn't flinch when I check on him anymore, so baby steps!

Tonight burning B&BW Heirloom Pumpkin.

I got that one too and it's DELICIOUS!! I think I'll have to cut it in half though....it's strong. ;)

[smilie=_smileyfacehugging_] Don't worry Biolaeagles...I know how emotional it is...but this is one of the easier obstacles to overcome. My son went to speech therapy when he was 2 because he couldn't speak at all. (Severe reoccurring ear infections made him hear as though he was always under water). "The earlier they go, the quicker they learn" was what the doctors told me....he was done in less than two years and let me tell you...he never stops talking and speaks much better than the rest of us!!

Rivercat...good luck with Linus!!! Sounds like your making progress!! [smilie=th_catkiss]

Think I'll go with Pumpkin Pecan Waffles fom Sweet Smelling Aroma.

Night.

I'm feeling like smelling blueberries...

UTC Blueberry Fruit Loop Marshmallows

Keystone Blueberry Cobbler

LOL Blueberry Sugar Cookies

Jules, thanks for the info on your avatar! I love art and am always interested in the history of the painting/photograph/artist. Did you ever see "Saying Grace" by Norman Rockwell? I bought that print for my mom many years ago...it's beautiful too.

Have a nice one. :)

Biolaeagles, my DS also had delayed speech. As in, he only said a handful of words at age 3. We took him to a speech specialist in Bethesda, MD. He was put through a series of tests and it was determined that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. In fact, they discovered he was exceptionally intelligent for his age. He had even developed his own sign language to let us know what he wanted. Lol. That helped us to relax a bit and sure enough it was only a few months later that he was talking non-stop in full sentences. Today he is a very well spoken 19 year old in his second year of college. Your DS is lucky to have two caring parents that will make sure he gets any help he may need.

Jules - Thanks for the pic info! I thought it was a painting....how [smilie=kewl] that's a photograph!

Rivercat - [smilie=th_slider_congratulation on your new furbaby....it sounds like a perfect match! I really doubt you're boring  but do think you'll have the patience needed to make Linus feel safe and secure. A long time ago one of the outside ferals brought a friend for dinner. She was so afraid of me, but with a lot of patience, after months and months she finally let me pet her. I named her Girlfriend cuz I thought she might be his girlfriend ;) but she became a good friend to me too and would sit by my side when I'd sit on the top step of the front porch.

I'm burning B&BW's Cider Lane....wonderful scent!
