  1. Hope all of you are having an enjoyable evening! So far this evening I have been burning BBW Eucalyptus Spearmint. The flames get very low on this triple wick candle right after lighting them, but the candle always seems to liquify and throw quite well. Interesting...
  2. Hi everyone, hope all of you are having a fun, Friday evening. I've had Can Do Mimi's House going in my melter this afternoon. I think it's just about all worn out at this point though.
  3. Wow! Who exactly is making that claim about YC not using fragrance oil throughout their wax? I was wondering if it is the company, itself, or just idle discussion and speculation on Facebook? If it's the company, Yankee really should take measures to stop the erroneous claims. I've never tried Goose Creek. Love the "Goose is Cooked" title of the thread, BTW!
  4. I've been melting the rest of YC Holiday Garland (I think that was its name!) but it is so weak now that I think I will put YC Christmas Cookie in my melter instead. It's snowing outside here in Colorado and looking very festive! I'm just glad I don't have to drive anywhere this evening on the slick roads. Hmm, maybe I will bake some sugar cookies or something yummy!
  5. Hope everyone is having a nice Tuesday afternoon and better weather/stable ground! So far this afternoon I have been melting YC Nature's Paintbrush.
  6. So far this morning I have been burning CBV Lemon Pound Cake. I'm having a little trouble keeping the wick going at full flame (maybe it is just getting too old) but the candle is nearing its end anyway. I have to go to work in a little bit, but I was thinking when I get home of melting something "cranberryish". Maybe Cranberry Woods by BBW or something that smells more edible, like cranberry chutney. We have so much snow outside, and the temps are cold enough, that it certainly feels like Thanksgiving out, or even Christmas!
  7. I'm feeling sad for my candle friends who have colds or the misfortune to have snow mess postponing trick-or-treating. What a bummer to be stuck cleaning up instead of having fun. Colorado already got its snow and everything is now melted off and beautiful for the kids this evening. We are feeling pretty fortunate that the next storm won't arrive until Wednesday. Recent smellies include Can-do's Lessie's Haunted House and CBV Marshmallow Campfire. Right now I have a CBV Pomegranate Cider candle going that is making the upstairs rooms smell really good. Happy Halloween everyone!
  8. I'm getting ready to fire up something new, but I've been melting CBV Fig Lychee most recently. I've been looking at the pile of Granny Smith apples on my kitchen counter and thinking I need to get busy on making pies. (We had to pick the apples off our tree because of hard frost this weekend.) Maybe I will burn CBV Baked Apple Strudel next. Bet that will really get me motivated to do some baking! Have a great Autumn day, everyone!
  9. I've been burning CBV Raisin Rum this afternoon. I don't smell much rum, or at least it could be well blended into the other elements of the fragrance, but the candle sure does smell good and is throwing beautifully. And that makes me happy! :D
  10. Hello everyone! I've been melting LSC Fireside this evening, and I'm loving it! This is one of the first truly brisk, Autumn evenings we've had so far this year, so it's a perfect melt for the occasion. Just got back from taking my DD and one of her friends to their first, official high school homecoming dance. I can't believe my baby is growing up so quickly! It was so fun watching all the students arriving in their dresses, suits and corsages. Earlier today I was burning CBV Blackberry Cobbler, followed by CBV Peanut Butter Cookies. Yum!
  11. So far this Friday morning, I have been melting CCCC Baton Rouge. It's the rest left from a previous melting session, and I'm not sure what I will put in next. But it will probably be something very Autumn-like, because these cooler temps are really getting me in the mood for heavier, spicier scents. This is my favorite time of year, hands down, because the worst of summer heat is over, the fall foilage is gorgeous, and we aren't yet struggling with the freezing temperatures of winter. Plus, there is just so much excitement of the beginning of the school year with its football games, homecoming, etc., and so much to look forward to in the way of holidays all the way up to the Christmas season. I'm loving it!
  12. I have to admit that I haven't been on the forum as much as usual either. It's a busy time of year with back to school and all. But I'm really getting in the mood for Autumn now, and excited to check out what everyone is burning and melting these days! Earlier it was YC Oatmeal Cookie, and most recently CCCC Baton Rouge. To me, Baton Rouge (aka French Vanilla Oak elsewhere) is perfect for fall with its spicey warmth, but I also love it year round. I just got off of work and haven't quite decided what else to melt.
  13. Tania, you day at the beach sounds fun! One of my friends from Scarborough (UK) says she loves September at the beach because all of the tourists have gone home and yet it is still lovely weather for enjoying sand and surf. I have CBV Berries and Cream burning this afternoon. This one is a bit more summery, but I got out my fall scents and started putting them out for easy access during the next few months. Our weather here in Colorado is cooling off beautifully, yet we are still able to enjoy wearing shorts. I'm so glad the worst of summer heat seems to be behind us now!
  14. Best to you, MaggieMae, on your upcoming procedure. I hope it brings you the relief you seek. And I know exactly what you mean about student workloads being just incredible! I don't remember academics being that serious and time-consuming when I was in school. And now even activities like band or cheerleading are super serious and require umbelievable amounts of dedication, money, and training! I just got off work (well, it is Labor Day, after all!) but before I went in I burned CBV Country Fair Funnel Cake. I didn't get a funnel cake when we went to the Colorado State Fair yesterday because they were so ridiculously expensive. So I guess this was the next best indulgence! Hope all of you had a great holiday weekend and good weather!
  15. Sorry you are feeling blue, Katzncandles. I hope things look up for you. I've had Scentsy Juicy Peach going last night, but nothing this morning so far. It wasn't throwing well, just concentrating in certain areas of the room upstairs, until I discovered that our ceiling fan, which I had recently reversed to help with heat, was not so much dispersing the scent as moving it away from where I could smell it. Makes sense, because that's what I was trying to accomplish with the heat! Ha ha! By the way, thank you for all the concern and sympathy regarding the scary riptide incident. It's been hard to stop thinking about what could have happened even now that I am safe. I realize how precious every moment of life is. I can't tell you all how good it felt to get home and fire up a candle. Whew! Back to normal!
  16. Hi everyone! Just got back from our 10-day long summer beach vacation on the Texas Gulf Coast. We had to get plane tickets to a wedding down that way and figured we might as well make a vacation trip of it. I'm melting and burning YC Sun & Sand, and am totally in the mood for my "beachy" fragrances. I guess I'm subconsciously trying to make all the fun linger a bit! It was an awesome vacation filled with dolphin watching, seafood dinners and beach fun aside from one scary incident in which all of my family got caught up in an riptide and were quickly washed out far into deep water. We were in only about 3 1/2 feet of water when it happened, and it was like being trapped in a giant, underwater vacuum My 6 foot 4 inch husband managed to land on a more shallow sand bar and grabbed my youngest daughter just as she was getting sucked down under water. And then the rest of us fought the strong current to get over to him and relative safety. The waves were pounding us overhead and so violent! Then we made our way diagonally to shore, completely exhausted. I know angels were looking out for us. My kids were resting at the edge of the water near the beach when my youngest daughter started screaming, stung on her hands by a stray jellyfish tentacle that had washed up. We think it was a Portugese man-o-war tentacle based on the width and length, and because we later found out a couple of them were seen in the immediate area there where we were swimming on the Port Aransas beach. She was in extreme pain and sick, but we got her first aid quickly and she recovered almost completely by the next day. I have always loved the sea and felt completely at home in ocean waters, and considered myself a strong swimmer, but this was all a new, frightening side of the ocean. It just goes to show that the ocean is to be respected! Thought I would share to warn others who might visit the beach. If you do get caught in a riptide, the best thing to do is not panic, gently float and tread water, and then swim parallel to the shore until you escape its grip. What I didn't know is that it can happen in only a few feet of water!!!

Happy Independence Day USA! Hope all you guys have a safe, wonderful 4th of July! This morning, so far, I have been burning two candles: Haley's Blueberry Cobbler and YC Blueberry Scone.
  18. Just a quick thought, Iloveyummysmells: All of us CBV fans have noticed that Victoria's candles get stronger and more true to scent the longer they cure. I've had some of her candles that just didn't impress me until a month or two later. And they seem to work best after sitting around for about six months. (Though most of her scents throw like crazy right away.) Lemon Pound Cake is one scent I just didn't like at first, but now it throws beautifully and smells much more yummy and bakery-like. At first, it smelled like cleaner to me, not sure why, because my family didn't think so. I haven't been melting this morning, but recent ones include Haley's Strawberry Shake, YC Clean Cotton and AMS Avocado Seasalt.
  19. Good Morning to all of you! I've got YC Clean Cotton going in my melter upstairs. I thought I might drag out my YC Clean Cotton patriotic military candle a bit later in honor of Indepedence Day. I can't believe it is already almost the 4th of July! This summer is already zipping by so quickly.
  20. I've got a CBV candle in Marshmallow Campfire going right now. I think I might put some Hershey's Chocolate by CCCC in my melter to go with the marshmallow scent. Have a great day, everyone!
  21. I've got AMS Fun in the Sun going in both candle and melt form. Everyone in the family has commented on how much they are enjoying it. I love it when everyone is particularly happy with my wax obsession!

  23. Trep, surely all of us join you in prayers and good thoughts for the Joplin tornado victims, and all who have suffered from the terrible weather this Spring. Sometimes it's hard to think that I am enjoying my wax and other hobbies while others are grieving loved ones and their very way of life. We are supposed to be in severe weather season here in Colorado, but so far there's been nothing much except warm temperatures. It seems like we went from chilly, wintry temps straight to hot! I've been melting Haley's Bluebonnet this afternoon and evening.

  25. Hi everyone! I've had YC Ocean Water going all afternoon, both in melt and candle form. I know what everyone means about end of the school year chaos. Field trips, food for end of year parties, dances, major projects due, finals to buckle down and study for, field trip permission forms--I'm exhausted! And I'm not even in school, just a frazzled parent at the ready with checkbook and car keys in hand. :wacko: Oh well. In a few years, when the kids have gone off to college, I'll be sorely missing these days.
