  1. Haha! Wouldn't dream of it!

I'm melting LOL Pearamel (great scent) and burning two pillars.

(Side rant: My Full Moon pillars are ok, but in terms of my attitude toward them, I am already to the point where I'm just trying to use them up. With pillars I find it hard to get past the fact that the flame is so unprotected from drafts. The candles are good quality, and I would recommend the company to anyone, but I'm unfortunately not enjoying mine much any more, just trying not to waste what's left of them.)

  2. Christy - one of the best deals is to hit the 2/$22 sales, and use a coupon or a promotion! I often get the 20% off of $50, or $10 off some amount. (PS - I just hit the sale with a Retailmenot code and ended up with candles at $9.)

Be sure you're on the mailing list - they sent me a code for 25% off any online order AND free shipping so I ended up getting the candles for $8.25 INCLUDING shipping!

Thanks for the tips! Friday is my birthday and I'm plotting a bday trip to BBW, to sniff some things and see what they have.

No melting action to report today...I'm out of the house all day. Next one planned (tonight or tomorrow) is SP Cinnamon & Spruce, though.

  3. Hi all, Today I melted a friend's Red Velvet Cake and SP (Sensibly Posh) Lemon Sugar Bundt Cake, although DH knocked the melter over and made a mess. (Oh well, he's a keeper anyway.)

You guys are getting me interested in this Champagne candle now! I LOOOVE champagne scents!! Does BBW usually have a big sale right after Christmas like Yankee? When is the best time to stock up?

  4. I got YC's holiday catalog and saw Holiday Home Sweet Home - the description sez ' a blend of cinnamon, cloves, pine, cedar, smoked firewood & vanilla'. Sounds good - have U sniffed it?

I've always thought the description of that one sounded excellent. In past years I've had trouble distinguishing it from the regular Home Sweet Home (which is a pretty "blah" scent IMO), but the Holiday version is due for a re-sniff in the store sometime. If I recall correctly, I felt like it was mostly cinnamon/clove and that those other notes didn't really come out on cold sniff, whereas I would prefer it to be the other way around, with the tree and firewood notes more pronounced.

  5. I find it pretty hard to distinguish and choose among Yankee's "tree" scents: Balsam & Cedar, Mistletoe, Christmas Wreath, and Balsam Forest (not sure if that one is new this year or a treasure). Which one/s do you prefer, and how do you think they compare to one another? It is hard to tell from the descriptions (and even the cold sniff in the store) if any of them are meant to be lighter/stronger, woodsier, fresher, fruitier, etc. than the others. I am tempted to just collect them all (since tree scents are my thing), but that might be overkill, so I'm wondering what y'all think. Christmas Wreath has been my go-to scent in the past (although I'm out of it at the moment), and this year I picked up Balsam Forest but haven't burned it yet.

From Can-Do, who has tried Blue Spruce and/or Christmas Tree, and what did you think? Inquiring minds need to know. (Rocky Mountain High has pine in it, and it's amazing -- I'm getting a bag of it in my next order, for sure.)

I also found these older threads on Christmas and tree scents:

Christmas tree scents (multiple vendors, 2008)

    Christmas tarts (multiple vendors, 2009)

  6. Switched out the scents. Melting LB Toasted Marshmallow and burning YC Merry Marshmallow. I am happy to report that the throw of Merry Marshmallow is better than I expected. The hot throw is better than the cold, somehow. (It still isn't super strong, just moderate.) (I wonder if they'll bring this one back in future years. I might be tempted to pick up a second one at the semiannual sale.)

P.S. I am also trying out my knitted cozie for the first time. Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing some p0rn action shots.
