  1. (3.2 lbs?! She is so petite!! I'm with you on holding off on the fall scents - I remember last year seeing a lot of Instagram folks jump into pumpkin at the end of August and they were sick to death of it long before Halloween!) Winged creatures, oh so wonderful - I would say my favorite is the wood thrush because of his beautiful song. The person below me has been on more than one type of ferry boat.
  2. Hello all! On break at work. Thank you for the kind words about the termites. We also have a relatively wet area which used to be farm fields, with a high water table, and the little guys love moist conditions. I was happy when the termite man (I should call him something better but don't know what) said that our crawl space is lovely and dry. The house is guaranteed for 5 years now and I will retreat after that. Sharon, I strongly believe we should embrace our grey hair. To me, grey hair is very pretty and I've been delighted the last few years when grey was actually a trendy color. My mother's hair went completely white as she aged and I always thought it was beautiful. Mag, I can't believe it's your job to lay tile... This is a big job... Hard on the back... I'm afraid I would go on strike... I'm glad your little puppy is there to give you comfort!! So many beautiful scents, also. And congrats on trimming your own hair!! I have no ability in this area.. my hair is also getting long but I may leave it for awhile. Thanks on the blending encouragement...I have a few ideas but as usual they involve peppermint and marshmallow fireside. Today it's Ava's Sunny Buns - piña colada with added banana, very tropical and I love it - strong throw and perfect for end of summer vibes. Stay safe everyone!
  3. (I also love O-Cedar products!) No, I'm holding out until Sept. 22 for the fall wax, lol... My favorite scents are probably Spring/Summer and Christmas.... So I'm hanging on...I have one drawer of fall wax and that should last nicely up until December. I do enjoy the pumpkin and smoky scents so that will be fun...soon enough. (And you?) The person below me has been taking walks in her neighborhood.
  4. Good morning all, Well, that week went by in a flash. We had the house treated for termites yesterday... It was a preventive measure because we had had a leak under the fridge which was repaired a few weeks ago, and we had some damp wood removed that had some little bugs in it, not sure what they were, but I panicked. The technician yesterday said he saw no evidence of termites but I'm in the camp of "an ounce of prevention...". I love this house and it's probably the one we will stay in for the rest of our lives. Mag, can it be six months since you were at your school? In some ways time has stood still and in other ways the weeks have just disappeared. All your wax sounds lovely...VRC, CFOW, EA. I remember that VRC Olive Lavender Shaving Cream. Michele, I'm glad the VCS is holding up. I haven't ordered from her in awhile but in the spring I want to order some of her ginger ale scents. Sharon, lovely to see you on here and I keep hoping that one day we all will somehow meet in person... Once this virus is under control...I am not planning on flying until that's true. Well yesterday I had a melt from RG with beautiful base notes - Herb Patch and Oak Moss - but which had some amber in it that was way too strong for me. So I ended up trying lots of other scents with it and making a scent shot cup sampler - combos with Cranberry, Rosemary Mint, Satsuma, Lemon Confection, Campfire Marshmallow, or Vanilla Ice Cream. I have never played with blending before and it was so much fun! What other scents would you have tried here?? Of the bunch, I would say that the Cranberry and the Rosemary Mint were my favorites. Mag, you are our expert Blender-in-Residence and now I see why you enjoy this! I felt like the mad scientist... The termite man was in and out of the house and didn't say anything about all the different aromas... So all night I've had a candle under the lamp: Homeworx Farmstand Strawberry - and this is a very realistic sweet strawberry and very strong, delicious. I hope everyone will have a beautiful Labor Day weekend, and stay safe out there. Hugs all around!
  5. Hello all!! Lovely to be home again. I had to focus more than usual driving home yesterday as there was some rain in the mountains. A whole different kind of beauty. Today we picked up groceries and paid bills, and we had new tires put on DH's car. So the checkbook is a bit lighter, but it feels good to get this stuff done. Mag, it takes awhile to get through these loaves, doesn't it? I have a few as well... Last night I had strong fruity scents so today I needed something refreshing: L3 Amber Noir Bamboo - heavy on the bamboo, which I love - and Amber Noir is mandarin, jasmine and amber, so this is just gorgeous. I would say I'm mainly getting the bamboo and the jasmine, and it's very strong. Love! Take care all. It might actually be getting a little cooler!
  6. Shamefully I do not own an apron...I used to.... The person below me has a Swiffer.
  7. Hello all, Very hectic at the plant. But that's good... It's fun when there is lots to do. Mag... Thanks. . And I'm so so glad that all of your family tested negative for this virus. Tobacco Barn sounds right up my alley. I have two melts going in the hotel which are so good I can't bear to pour them out - Destination Wax London Rain - rain, citrus, florals and wood - oh such a beautiful combination! I really love this vendor... Kae's Blackberry Sugared Violets - oh I love this so much! Hoping everybody down south will come through the hurricane safely, but it looks very tough. Hugs to all, stay safe.
  8. Greetings ladies! A beautiful drive yesterday through the mountains, with variable weather - sudden downpours and then brilliant sun. The mountains were misty, and as usual I got goosebumps coming up over some of the rises. There is one little ranch house in particular - all by itself, perched above an enormous valley with the hills beyond - and I always want to go up to their door and haul them outside, and say, please tell me that you are still seeing this astounding view, that every day you come outside and drop to your knees. Mag, I do hope all your tests are negative... You truly have had enough...This year has been over the top. I'm so glad that little Cannoli continues to bring love and joy to the family. As for OPT Good Vibes... why, why change such a beautiful thing... Right, hardly any pear and the grass note muted... it's still pretty but... not the same. Thank you for the kind words about the compressor.... It went out with spectacularly loud noises, and the new one is great so it's a good thing. Michele, the SGA Southside Serpents sounds lovely with the tobacco note. I will have to try that one! I hope things are going ok with your daughters and all the changes in plans. Susan, I hope you are doing well and that your clients continue to be healthy. I salute you for being on the front lines throughout this pandemic! Well this morning it's: Rosegirls Pond Scum - the name -very fresh, green, and watery - so right up my alley. Extremely strong here in the hotel but I'm loving it. Take care all and wear your masks, this thing isn't over till it's over. Hugs to all.
  9. Ooh, well now that's a tough one because I love wood. There's not a one I don't like...I probably prefer lighter woods right now, like natural hickory or maple, but I like cherry and brazilian pecan and everything in between! I also really like when shades of the same family are mixed, light and dark together. The person below me may purchase a doggie sweater this winter.
  10. Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well! It was a hectic week at work even though I was home. Next week I travel again. Also the compressor went out on the a/c-heat pump outside and it had to be replaced, ouch expensive, but these things happen! Mag, the new puppy sounds so wonderful and of course she is a good girl! Look at her mom. I love that VRC Patchouli Coast! Michele, you are making a dent. It looks like we are all sticking with some summery scents for the time being. Susan, I have haven't tried Kringle but I'm glad you got a good deal on those daylights!! You have been melting like mad also! Well today it's Rosegirls Blackberry Cream Puffs -so juicy and delectable with the flaky pastry note. I wish I could eat this! Have a good night all!
  11. Hello everyone and Happy Friday! Mag, sometimes a change of routine and scenery is much needed, and I'm glad you were able to get away!! And I love TSGS Derry. Susan, that grape melt sounds soooo good! Michele, I would actually like to eat some cream puffs.... Trying to forget I read that! Today it's a favorite: VRC Driftwood - spiced citrus, green notes, moss, and woody musk. I have ordered this from Sarah several times and will always order it again. This has been a quiet week working from home. It is the calm before the storm of the coming months! Take care all!
  12. Good morning all, Susan, thank you, when this ban is over I will look into Root. Sharon, I agree, I like cooler temps, even 50-60 is fine by me, a light sweater is ideal. Michele, that VCS sounds delicious and I know you love your fall scents so much. Mag, how are you doing? Sending hugs my friend. Today it's: Empire Alchemy Big Bear Mountain - buttermints, VBN, and white birch - just gorgeous. I am really enjoying this vendor. It's a coconut paraffin and to me it needs to cure for about two months, after which it is absolutely glorious. Beautiful and different blends. Have a good day everyone!
  13. Greetings all, Mag, how is the cleanup going... That has to be so much work. I hope you are getting help!! Susan, how do you like those Root candles? I've heard some good things. Michele, ohhhh Coffee Pretzel sounds so wonderful! Today it's: Rainbow Melts Sunny Days - Satsuma, lemon curd, orange sherbet - delicious! Have a good evening everyone.
  14. Hello everyone, A quiet day working from home and catching up on documents. Today it's: The Bunny Sisters Spring Day - fresh flowers, bamboo great, Downy April Fresh, VBN. Gorgeous throughout the house. Happy Monday all!
  15. Not a tornado - a typhoon in Japan, a hurricane in Hawaii, and a hurricane on Long Island, all frightening. But a tornado must be especially scary, and now I see that my friend has been through this horrible experience. I completely missed the news this week and I am so sorry. The person below me wishes 2020 would take a reset.
  16. Hello everyone and I'm sorry to have been MIA - and here some of you have had a terrible week and I had no idea. Please forgive me. Mag, I'm so glad everyone is ok by you and I'm so very sorry you got hit hard by the tornado! Yikes, how scary! And I'm glad that power has been restored... But the damage control now...ugh. You did make me giggle with the wall oven locking and unlocking, I'm sorry, but repeated noise like that would drive me round the bend. I'm glad your father is ok as well. Can we just start 2020 over again?? Michele, I have seen all the birthday pictures on IG from your husband and daughter this weekend, so much fun! Susan, you are melting up a storm and a beautiful variety. Sharon, of course it would have been rude not to order, you really were left with no choice. We had a hectic week at work last week and to top it off I didn't take enough wax, hard to imagine I know. We are rearranging things a bit in the house here at home but it's fun to do that... Makes you see the furniture as if it were new. Today it was: Rainbow Melts Himalayan Dream Salt - lime, lavender, hibiscus, sea breeze, oak moss - a beautiful fresh scent and unlike anything else I've smelled. It's been going for 16 hours, wonderful wax. Have a good night all. I will be home this week, thank goodness. Sleep tight!
  17. Great title Mag! I hope everyone is well. Your melts sound delicious. Susan, I have tried Swan Creek, good to hear you're enjoying that one. Shocking though it may be, I have no orders out there. The plan is to take a break from ordering for six months. I think most of us on this board took some sort of a pause last year. I actually feel relaxed thinking about it. We shall see! Today it's a gift from a sweet friend and it's absolutely wonderful: Cheryl's Twilight (Lush lavender dupe) - spot-on like the Lush version, strong, long-lasting. I adore this and will re-order next year. I have to travel this week but I'm looking forward to seeing my mountains. Stay safe, everyone.
  18. (where in the world did you find those emojis with different colored hair??? Those are amazing and they are us!! ) At the moment I do not have any grassy plants, although I love them. I hope your citronella grass will do the trick with the mosquitoes because if it does, I will be buying the same! The person below me has a favorite type of fish that she enjoys eating.
  19. Hello everyone! I hope everybody is doing well. Today I just goofed around and played my guitar and was totally unproductive with work work, so it turned into a vacation day. Mag, Susan, I have heard only good things about Satin Suzie but yikes, you just can't order from everybody, although I have certainly tried. One day I will try her! Michele, yes you are melting all sorts of different varieties these days!! And you have gotten me to appreciate bakery more. It's good to spread our wings a little! Mag, I love that VRC Queen of Hearts! I remember that summer when we were buying loaf after loaf... Well I need to make a dent in my Rosegirls stash so today it's: RG Rosemary Lemon Olive Leaves and this is absolutely gorgeous. Very strong and very fresh! Have a great evening all!
  20. (I think you would look amazing with a cool funky hair color. Let's both do it and shock everyone!) I'm not sure I have a favorite month. I like Christmas so maybe December could be it! The person below me can do a flip off a diving board.
  21. Hello everyone, It sounds as though we've all had our share of water issues! Michele and Mag, yikes!! I hate thinking it's getting into the floorboards...I can see the dollar signs flashing before my eyes... but into each life, some home repairs must fall! I have to giggle because now you ladies are doing melting baskets and I stopped doing them. I found that I never wanted to melt what was in the basket. I'm just pulling from the drawers and you're right, I see no dent that way.... Susan, I hope you're doing well too, I liked that L3 sample, got the same one. Love you too sweet lady. Well today it's been: Wicked Wax Studios Clothes Line Saga - clothesline, citrus, apple, woods - really nice because of that wood note! Sometimes I can't do all day with a laundry scent, starts getting on my nerves, but this one is different and lovely, and going strong after about 15 hours, really beautiful. I hope you all have a restful night.
  22. Ha! I have never done that but sometimes I like seeing it on other people. If I did anything it would be a little streak of bright blue... But I don't think I have the nerve. (Do you? Have you? ) The person below me has more than one piercing hole in each ear.
  23. Hello dear all! I'm sorry to have been MIA. Everyone seems to be melting up a storm! I traveled last week but am home this week. Mag, I am very sorry about your washing machine overflowing from upstairs. What a complete pain!! I am sorry!! I remember that SGA Coin Wash and wow it was strong! Michele, I also am enjoying EA thanks to Miss Mag -very creative blends!! Susan, all your HR scents sound lovely and I surely enjoy that vendor. We also have discovered a water problem. It has been leaking under the refrigerator for who knows how long and the floor has some rotten spots. I have called the fellow who does that kind of work for us and he is all backed up but will come. The good news is we were going to do all hardwood in here anyway... It is currently a wood laminate. But first we have to understand what repairs may be necessary underneath there. Yikes, isn't it always something?! Well today it has been a berry day: Homeworx Farmstand Blueberry - under the candle lamp - so delicious and juicy, great throw. Rosegirls Wildberry - blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, and cream - this is very very very sweet but also juicy and good enough to eat. Have a great evening everyone and stay safe!
  24. Hello and welcome! I'm sorry I didn't see this until now. I will go look as well!
  25. (ha! I'm glad the basket idea helped... And yes, it's a nice way to put the overflow somewhere!) Oh yes, this is a constant struggle.... What to cook...I am so bored with everything I usually make, and I'm not terribly creative in coming up with new ideas... So I make the same old stir fry over again...LOL! The person below me has a huge umbrella that she loves to walk under in the rain.
