  1. Good morning ladies and greetings from the road, Aria - cactus is available at places like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods (I think) but probably not in the groceries in places where cactus doesn't grow locally. In Cincinnati, I can find it at Jungle Jim's but that is a huge international foods place. And yes it is supposed to be full of vitamins. Also, Aria, it sounds as though you're really enjoying that Zeep order - just opening Ashley's boxes is a treat in itself, isn't it, so gorgeous!! - and you and I have ordered some of the same melts. On that Mambo Beach, she just poured it two weeks ago so I'm really giving that one some time (like two months). But the Beach Towels - exquisite and tons of throw, enjoy!! Debra, as for the wax ban, I've gone three days without ordering anything so that's a start, right? I started looking at the wax websites again and this is very dangerous...I brought along a number of CFOW samples on this trip and there are some that are just delicious - Amazon Mist, for one! - and this is also very tempting... Honeybear, I hope you've had a wonderful birthday and visit with your DD! Maggie, thank you for the Serendipity explanation - I had no clue. I do like some of the cherry scents so I might have enjoyed that one. It sounds as though it's run its course! So here in St Louis in the hotel I've been cycling through a number of scents - I use the little silicone cupcake liners and then I end up creating a little tart that I can use again. So it's been: CFOW Marshmallow and Dragon's Blood (has a name which I can't recall) Zeep Beach Towels (ahhhhhhhh) CFOW Fresh Squeezed Orange Avobath (what is an avobath?? - lovely) CFOW Carnival at the Beach (you didn't think I'd travel without this one, did you??) There's me off to work - Have a lovely day, AmyJo
  2. I can ride a horse, not well. The person below me has more than one pet.
  3. Good morning all! Happy birthday Honeybear!! I hope you have a beautiful, sweet-smelling day! Getting ready for a short trip for work and packing some waxies and B&B to fight the homesickness, LOL. But which ones to take when there are so many lovelies? Decisions, decisions... Biolaeagles, it sounds like a great trip to California! And that latte scent sounds divine...I feel a coffee theme coming on... Maggie, you are making me laugh - the Magic Closet!! Isn't it amazing how wax reproduces when we're not looking? I have a CD cupboard that has the same thing happening...what goes on behind closed doors.... As for Serendipity, for as much as I love scent, I don't know the fine fragrances too much. I get overwhelmed in the perfume section of a store with the ladies trying to spray me with things. That loaf sounds fruity and lovely. I remember seeing Sweetheart something around Valentines Day on the Zeep website but I didn't order it (one of the few waxies from Zeep I haven't ordered....) Debra, you can buy cactus with the spines already removed. But it's easy to do. You just lay them flat on a cutting board and since the spines are coming out of little protrusions, you slide your knife slowly across the surface and remove all of the little bumps, spines and all. And yes I do wear gloves when I'm doing this! For those of you who love earthy scents, you might try CFOW's Moon Cakes - I now have a full basket of these and they are so pretty and smell amazing. Eye and nose candy. I have put myself on a wax shopping ban. Time to "shop my stash." I have so many beautiful melts but they do seem to reproduce in the night. Now the trick will be to stay away from the restocks...oh, but surely I can just look... Well yesterday afternoon I switched from the bakery scents to something fruity and these were heavenly: FP Macarons - Cherry Slush / Black Cherry Bomb / Cherry Blondie, triple layered. Wow, just gorgeous and all kinds of throw as usual for FP. I let that run all night. This morning while I'm packing it's a laundry theme: Kitchen: Zeep Laundry Day in Marseilles Bedrooom: CFOW Sweet Sheets (blue sugar, pink sugar, fresh laundry - sweet and lovely) Back bedroom/office: Zeep Beach Towels (love this - lemongrass, coconut, and fresh sheets - beautiful) Have a lovely day all! AmyJo
  4. No white water rafting for me. I'm afraid of hitting my head on a rock under the water... The person below me has her wax organized by vendor.
  5. Good morning ladies and I second that Happy Monday, Finally warming up, maybe this time it means it. Thanks to Debra's good example, I made a big dent in the spring cleaning around here yesterday, complete with Sea Air variants in every room. I started with the CFOW sampler and moved into the FP Cactus and Sea Air and it was heavenly. It was so effective that I thought about having some sand trucked in, but that would negate the spring cleaning so I decided against it. I still have to do baseboards...maybe this is TMI but the Pyrenees is a slime machine and when he shakes his head...I may need a putty knife for some of it ... Debra! I love that you *randomly* pulled out the Austrian blend at the same time as your son arrived in Austria - how the threads of our lives are woven together... Also, Debra - you asked about that cactus smoothie - it's very light and tasty. The part that takes a few minutes is to remove the cactus spines. You just use 1-2 diced cactus paddles (nopales), maybe 1 cup of pineapple, 1/2 cup of orange juice, a handful of parsley, and maybe a bit of water if it's too thick. Blend, that's it! Aria, thank you for the info on that Wonderberry Her Shaving Cream! I really like the shaving cream blends but I get what you're saying that they might need a bit of sweetening up sometimes so I will check that one out. And yes - that FP Momma's Blueberry Cobbler was heavenly and I let it go until it didn't smell anymore, which for FP takes a long time. A perfect scent. Maggie - how was the Zeep loaf? *details please* I didn't see that on her website at all - it was part of the mystery box? Well, I reluctantly changed out all the fading sea air scents this morning after letting them run all night. Today is a bakery day: Two melters, opposite ends of house: FP 12-Karrot Cake - very authentic and tasty, carroty, just a hint of sweetness Kitchen - CFOW Say it With Flours - baked bread, nice, on the lighter side Bathroom - ScentSationals Cupcake - light, pleasant, with kind of that artificial vanilla icing scent Back bedroom office - Zeep Boulangerie, almondy, one of my most favorite scents. Has been curing for at least two months and I keep hoping it will get stronger because I looooooove this so much. Everything seems light to me this morning so maybe I blew out my nose with all the sea air yesterday. Have a wonderful day! AmyJo
  6. Also an update - I couldn't get Maggie's lavender sea air out of my mind - the power of suggestion - so I went with the CFOW Salted Sea Air Sampler. There are no words. Magnificent, five variants, each in its own warmer, just gorgeous scents. Spring Cleaning is underway. Now I need a beach. AmyJo
  7. If only there were a beach here, I would! But the Ohio River, beautiful though it is, doesn't quite work for this. The person below me will eat a waffle today.
  8. Well good morning ladies, It may actually be warming up in Ohio. I have just taken my big guy, Montgomery, out for a stroll while it is still cool out. He is happiest when the weather is around freezing. However, I must say that I am glad to feel the warmth of the sun. Honeybear - I'm glad your DD#1 is visiting for a few days, how fabulous!! I hope you have a wonderful time together. Maggie - that Zeep loaf sounds excellent, I didn't know Ashley even made loaves! I'm with you on not wanting to pour out wax that's going strong...but some of these really have staying power...*tapping foot* I'm tickled how many of us love that FP Cactus Sea Air - Maggie, Honeybear, mpfand - isn't it gorgeous? I seem to be loving most of the sea air blends...that's a beautiful scent. And the cactus...it's right on. I was making cactus smoothies there for awhile and to me that scent is accurate. Aria, sorry you had to retype your post - that happens to me occasionally and it's not a happy moment. That's a lot of good-sounding melts you have there - what did you think about the Wonderberry Shaving Cream? Susan, agree with you on that oak blend...normally I like the woody smells but not sure why that one didn't work. Debra, I salute you on the spring cleaning and that was my intention today as well. I got started last week but faltered. Thank you, you are my inspiration! And it is indeed an excuse to fire up more melters. Well, I got my pumpkin fix yesterday - the SGA Sweet Pumpkin was a little too sweet for me but I think it was just jarring with all the flowers blooming outside, too wrong for the season. So I moved on to: FP Momma's Blueberry Cobbler - absolutely gorgeous and still going strong 12 hours later, makes me want to bake. FP Marshmallow Peppermint Twist, one of my favorites but wow, I only used half a grubby tart and it's blowing us out of the house, amazingly strong. As soon as these fade (someday....) I have that hankering for sea air...but will it be lavender or cactus.... Have a lovely day! Michele - thinking of you - AmyJo
  9. Good morning all, A beautiful morning here and I hope the same for all of you. Michele - these next days are likely to be a bit chaotic...maybe good to have things to do, but can be exhausting...remember to be very gentle with yourself. Sending you lots of hugs. Maggie and Honeybear, I'm tempted to melt that Cactus and Sea Air again when I get home tonight - that truly is a beauty. I was on a pumpkin campaign this morning, I think because I wanted to try out this little SGA sample, so it's: SGA Sweet Pumpkin and ScentSationals Pumpkin Marshmallow Crème, always a favorite, but it doesn't match the weather so we'll see what to melt later. Have a peaceful day, everyone. AmyJo
  10. Michele I am so very sorry. I'm sending you much love and holding you and your father in my heart. AmyJo
  11. Susan, many thanks! I will check her out. Honeybear - I'm with your DD#1- that FP Cactus and Sea Air scent is wonderful. It filled the house and it was very calming. And you made me laugh about the melt that smelled like something burning, LOL! Today has been Champagne Day - Zeep Party Doll and BBW Champagne Toast. Both are beautiful and making me feel festive. Plus the weather is finally glorious. A good night to all!! AmyJo
  12. Good morning all and Honeybear, I'm very glad your DH's doctor appointment went well. Waiting for results is never fun but here's hoping everything is ok. Debra - I hope you are continuing to feel better! Thanks to all of you for the patchouli recos. Raspberry or orange - I love both of those. I'm eager to try it - the FP grubbies should be here soon. Well this morning there is a work breakfast so I'm getting my act together early. So yesterday afternoon I started melting these, and they are still going strong: FP Cactus and Sea Salt (interesting, beautiful, different) and FP Strawberry Rhubarb. I started this one the other day but strawberry is not my favorite so I stopped it. Then I felt sorry for it not getting to have its moment and gave it another try. Actually the rhubarb makes a nice contrast and I've decided I like it. Which is good because Angie did her usual excellent job and that one is very strong. Headed for the weekend - enjoy your day! AmyJo
  13. Good morning ladies, I hope everyone is well and enjoyed what looked like better weather for many of us. Today there is snow in the forecast but just as a passing fancy. Debra, I hope you continue to feel better after your fall. When you say patchouli blends well, what second scent would you suggest? Between you and Maggie, you have me completely intrigued as to what this smells like....can't wait for my FP grubby tarts to arrive. Susan, congratulations on making through the worst of tax season! Maggie, that ice cream cake sure sounds wonderful. That wouldn't last long around here. I love that CFOW Serene Waters - and it's long-lasting, isn't it? And you're right, I definitely have wax fever! Is there any cure?? Don't tell me....I will die happy.... Well yesterday two orders arrived, so the Christmas atmosphere around here continues - one from CFOW - Moon Cakes in gorgeous earthy scents, so beautiful, decorated with little beads and speaking to my inner hippie. And Zeep - the beauty of her wax melts and their packaging just leaves me speechless. Lovely scents and I've put them up to cure (except for one little morsel I had to try...). DH's back is getting better - he really did give it a nasty wrench the other day - and I thank you for all your good wishes. It's time for him to get back to regular hours. So last evening it was: SGA Raspberry Jam Apple Pie in the Kitchen, from a sweet CF friend (and this was beautiful, comforting, homey) And this morning it's: CFOW Beachwood Vetiver (there are no words for how much I love this) and Zeep Mambo Beach (orange, sea air, driftwood - lovely but needs curing, I was impatient). SGA Grandma's Garden, Lime - beautiful! Sweet lime, very realistic, strong. Have a lovely day, AmyJo
  14. It depends. For useless song lyrics, absolutely. For where I last put my phone, none at all. The person below me has lots of daffodils blooming in her yard.
  15. Yes I do! Hair bands! Thriller! The person below me is considering going on a wax ban.
  16. Good morning ladies!! Debra, I'm so sorry you fell and were hurt!! This is terrible, you must be so sore. The only thing I can think of that would definitely help with the healing process is a big order of wax from your favorite vendor. Thank you for the instructions on the cinnamon rolls because DH would crawl through hot oil for that particular treat. I hope you feel better soon!! Maggie, that's wonderful that you share a birthday with your father! I hope you both had a fabulous day! It's great you could celebrate with your little ones at school, too, and I'm with you - I think it's only right to repeat that 29th birthday. I can't say I've smelled the Karma perfume but I will keep my eye out. And yes! Those CFOW samples just blew me away - the ones you mentioned and also Sweet Bamboo. It's our earthy side coming out! And here I thought I was destined for a life of only creamsicles. I have all of you to thank for broadening my horizons! Aria, !! I hope you had a fabulous day and celebrated with some wax! I hope you will enjoy your Zeep order - and I don't know about her new gorgeous melts, but for me her wax definitely does best with about a month of curing. Well I have been enjoying the new orders so much that I *may* have placed another couple yesterday. I ordered Patchouli grubby tarts from FP and then I found a list of chunk bags in discontinued scents from CFOW - including my beloved Almond, Lime Cilantro, Sweet Grass, and a couple of others...I definitely need to go on a wax ban... Forgot to say what I was melting. This morning I'm back on the seven seas: CFOW Carnival by the Sea in the back of the house where I'm working, just can't get enough of this one SGA Jack the Clipper in the front of the house - gorgeous, brisk, energizing - and I thought Julie had said she had just poured this one, but wow, it doesn't need curing - wafts through the whole house - beautiful! Have a great day all!! AmyJo
  17. Maggie!! Happy birthday and many more!! I hope you have lots of fun with your family, wonderful scents that you love, and a huge cake with everybody singing. Best wishes and lots of hugs!! AmyJo
  18. Well good morning ladies and Happy Tuesday! We still have a bit of SNOW on the ground from yesterday...I had to refill the kerosene heater in the three-season room and break out the hot-water bottle again last night. I am trying to be glad for this because the Pyrenees is so much happier when it's cold. Honeybear, I hope your DH will get good news from the doctor this morning. I'm thinking about you both and sending you a big hug. Biolaeagles - you make your own melts?? Oh, I admire you ladies who do this. That Peppermint Coffee/Toasted Marshmallow sounds delicious! Susan - thanks for the OPT reference! Maggie, I remember when my DS was dating a girl some years ago and he said she always smelled like patchouli. I didn't follow up on it much because they went out only a few times and he didn't bring her over. Now I must learn what this smells like...hmmmm I see a few melts I could order.... Mpfand - I'm so glad your grandma enjoyed her 90th birthday party!! And I hope you and your DH enjoyed your anniversary. Well, I have put most of the recent orders up to cure but since the vendors were very generous with their samples, I'm in scent heaven and have been playing with lots of new choices. . Do you know the feeling when you discover something entirely new, and it's right up your alley? - there's that moment of recognition, like - you're part of me, and where have you been?? That's what happened yesterday with a sample from CFOW - Beachwood Vetiver. I'd never heard of a Vetiver before, had no clue what it was, and I don't think I've ever smelled that before. But within minutes of putting that little melt in the warmer, I was transfixed. Just beautiful, different, earthy...it's like I've known it all my life and had forgotten it. And now I know it's a grass...but I imagine all of you knew that already! Anyway, of course I had to go back to CFOW and wrote to Michele and now I have placed another order for some of her earthier scents in moon cake form. When DH came home, he too loved it. So yesterday it was CFOW - Beachwood Vetiver and Serene Waters (which is a lot like Carnival by the Sea, another SSA type, lovely) And this morning, in honor of the remaining snow, it's: Zeep - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (pine/mistletoe, STRONG) Zeep - Spiced Chai (wow, I didn't get much from this a few months ago and now it is beautiful - chai tea, pomegranate, orange, delish). Have a lovely morning all, AmyJo
  19. Yes but very beginner level. The person below me likes to knit.
  20. Good morning ladies, A good night's sleep is a wonderful thing. Yesterday was hospital day which I love, but I think I was already so tired from the accumulated work travel that last night I just came to a halt. I slept like a dead thing and woke up with Clementine the cat curled up under my chin. I don't even remember her hopping up into the bed. Michele, I'm thinking about you...it brings back memories of when my mother was in hospice...hugs to you and your Dad. And Michele, thank you for telling me about Jack the Clipper - this is becoming a favorite scent, outside my usual choices and now I love this one. Susan - Apple Peel & Jack sounds intriguing - who is the vendor? Maggie, I don't have any self control with all these restocks either...glad you found something fun at Zeep! As for the lime scents...it sounds as though there is a huge variety and I want to keep an open mind. And Patchouli - I will have to check that out as I don't know what that smells like at all. So much to learn.... Debra, that recipe sounds tempting - do you just lay the cinnamon rolls flat across the waffle maker? How long to cook? That is right up DH's alley. And Nag Champa - there's another one I don't know - *adding to the list* I love reading everybody's three melts to take to the deserted island. I haven't quite figured out the melters in that scenario...guess we'd have to use the candle kind. I think I would take creamsicle, salted sea air, and Christmas tree. We have a freeze warning for this morning but at least my Pyrenees is happy about it. DH has strained his back and I am trying to be patient. This morning it's: FP Cider Jam and Toast (has been melting for over 24 hours, delicious) CFOW Vanilla and Lavender, in sweet little heart drops that I could hardly bear to melt. Have a good morning, everyone. AmyJo
  21. Well hello once again everybody, An update. The SGA order also arrived today and it's scrumptious. Aria, aren't you the one who told me to order Jack the Clipper? It's a beautiful scent. I'm in Sea Air heaven! This one has a cactus/shaving cream background and it's crisp and tangy. I looooooooove! I also got some of her Grandma's Garden impressioned blocks in Lime and they're gorgeous, too pretty to melt! Because I have received only three orders in two days, I decided to head on over to Zeep's Restock and I did some damage there as well - beautiful wax shapes in a variety of scents. I stayed away from the B&B. So now it's: SGA - Jack the Clipper (two melters, divine) FP Sample - Cabin in the Rockies (smells like burning leaves / wood / cardamom - LOVELY) OK - here's a question for all of you - You are on a deserted island. You may have only three melts with you. Which ones do you choose? AmyJo
  22. Good morning ladies!! I'm HOME and so so happy. DH took excellent care of all the furry crew. He is a good soul. Michele, my heart is with you as you go through these difficult days. I'm glad your dad has you to lean on. Biolaeagles - hello! Are you enjoying your new house? And yes now you have the opportunity to play with, er, organize your wax? Too much fun. Maggie - on that lime wax that was too strong - I will check that one out because I loooooove lime, unless it is the green Life Saver type of lime and then yes, ick! Debra, I love that your postal lady will tuck away the packages in the shade. Our guy is a dear and I will ask him...because our mailbox is absolutely out in the hot sun. I arrived home yesterday to find not one, but two, packages of melts - one from CFOW and one from Front Porch. I'm absolutely blown away by both. The CFOW - how can I describe how much I love these beachy scents?? I got my beloved Carnival by the Sea (big bag of chunks) and the Salted Sea Air Sampler. They smell absolutely divine and the Sampler comes in all sorts of endearing shapes of seashells and sea creatures, so they are eye candy as well as fragrant. I believe Michele just poured these so I'm going to let them cure for a month or so. Thank you to everyone who recommended these scents - really unique. I have also fallen in love with Front Porch and wow, this order was beyond any expectations - I ordered three sets of Angie's macarons and they are huge and gorgeous, also eye candy. I also got several four-packs of grubby tarts and again am going to let everything cure for a bit. I'm finding her scents to be long-lasting and strong. So you'd think that was enough for awhile, yes? - but today is the Zeep Restock and I have an alarm on my phone and a wishlist already prepared and money saved and I have gone completely over the edge but am having so much fun. DH did say, last night, looking at me surrounded by all the new loot, "We're going to need a bigger house." So since last evening, it's been CFOW's Carnival by the Sea, in three different melters - just heaven. Today I plan to melt and continue with spring cleaning. Have a great Saturday all! AmyJo
  23. Hello dear ladies, Taking a break at work since most of my portion is complete. Michele - I am so very sorry. These are tough days ahead. I know we are all with you in our hearts. Remember to rest and remember all the happy times. Sending you a big hug. It seems that many of us have orders on the way. This is truly something to put a spring in our step. I didn't even think about the fact that soon it will be very warm and not such great weather for shipping. That means we should order now more, right, to make up for all those days in the summer when we just can't order? Debra, I love the Choose Your Own Adventure option to the DVD not being willing to finish the movie. You have a great attitude! Aria - I salute you, sticking to your daily "torture!" Dear Honeybear - I'm sending you a big hug as you remember your brother on his birthday. My heart goes out to you. And yes...on a lighter note....I will give my DH a big hug when I get home....right after I open that CFOW box. This morning I melted Juicy by Zeep (melon based) and it was heavenly. Have a good evening all, AmyJo
  24. Good evening all! Susan, LOLOL on the sexy man scent...raspberry, vanilla and bourbon works for me. Debra - many nights are Netflix nights for me - I'm at my best at about 4 am and it's downhill from there. Honeybear, you are so right - there is nothing like the taste of a good ballpark dog. My best friend and I are going to see the Cincinnati Reds in June and I promise you there will be good bratwurst, pretzels and cold-ish beer consumed. Maggie - that Pistachio Coconut Cream sounds delicious. Front Porch?? I will go check it out. Well my DH just told me that my CFOW package arrived today but I won't be home til Friday. Since I also have stuff coming from SGA, I asked him who the package was from, and he said, "The one with the cute name." I'm glad he still thinks the whole wax collection spilling out of everything is cute. I'm melting BH&G Orange Buttercream and it ran me out of the room, had to turn it off. Wow talk about potent! Lovely scent though. Well tonight there is no ballgame next door in Busch Stadium so I won't need the white noise app. Have a great night everybody. AmyJo
  25. I don't! The person below me will go to a baseball game this year.
