  1. I suppose I do... Bullseye's... Caramels... Neon worms... Tootsie rolls... Twizzlers... But they are not my first choice. A crispy cookie (Tate's) or a big chewy salty pretzel (Philadelphia airport) will outdo these any day. That said, I think I like most treats, which will always be an issue. (And you? ) The person below me has bought some special cloth masks this year.
  2. Good morning all!! Mag - a 96 oz candle?! Oh my goodness!! That will last for months! Michele, congrats on organizing the wax! That is a great feeling. Susan, best wishes for organizing your wax also, let us know how that goes. Doing laundry this morning. Going to Lima Ohio for two days this week to train my successor. Last night it was: Diptyque Fig Tree - under the lamp - such a gorgeous scent. Huge throw under the lamp. Not so much when I tried burning it, but that's fine because the scent is unique and woody and tart and I love it. Take care all and Happy Sunday!!
  3. (I do fret over the superstitions... Silly I know... But still...) Well, let's see, have I ordered from NTM vendors lately...it is possible... Yes...Up The Creek, Sweet Sage, and Nellie's Acres have all been paid at least one visit within the last month... And I'm delighted with all of their wax, so this just spells more trouble ahead! The person below me has candles stored in more than one location in her house.
  4. Mag - the picture frame - that's completely bizarre - maybe you have a poltergeist?! You may think I'm kidding... My dentist said the objects on his hutch cabinet would be all rearranged each morning... And he lived alone. I love this so much. Please keep us updated!! As for Pumpkin Sugared Donut - yes please! Michele, I'm glad you have a bourbon scent to remind you of our good times in Kentucky - a great day. Tonight it's Destination Wax Palo Santo, heavenly, calming and strong. Sleep tight all!
  5. Normally I like coffee just black. I love the taste and smell of coffee by itself. This time of year, I will enjoy some pumpkin spice creamer a few times, but that's it. The person below me observes certain superstitions.
  6. Mag, I'm so very sorry. And it was just starting to heal. Maybe a soft boot to sleep in... With spikes on it, purely for defense. I remember when you all were melting She Loves Cake and I loved the name. I'm glad it's still throwing so well for you! Susan, how is that fig Woodwick candle doing? I enjoy that crackling sound. Is the fig strong? I love that scent. Michele, ahhhhh Palo Santo! and yes I'm hearing good things about that Blended With Love. I'm trying not to look... Well, the week is proceeding nicely, after a rocky start in the hotel. I left late on Monday due to morning webcalls, so it was well into the evening upon arrival. I checked in, unpacked, hung up the clothing, put out the toiletries, laid out the all the wax in admiration, got two melters rolling, settled down to play the guitar and...the smoke alarm started chirping. It would speak every five minutes or so. I guiltily moved the bigger melter into the bathroom and turned on the fan, but yep, after about five more minutes, chirp. So I called the desk and in a little while, two ladies in masks arrived with new batteries. After exclamations of how good the room smelled and examining the bags of wax ("oh! Look at all your pretty soaps!!) the manager asked if she could lay a towel on the bed and stand on it to reach the smoke alarm. Sure, deed done, off they went, wax retrieved from the bathroom, mask removed, settled back down, and...chirp, chirp, more quickly now. I gave up....turned off the wax, let it cool, packed everything back up while the chirping continued, went downstairs and asked nicely for a new room. They said the maintenance guy needs to blow out the smoke alarm with compressed air. But that would not be now. They couldn't have been nicer about the whole thing, gave me an upgrade and a bunch of points. It was 10:30 before that was all finished and peace was reestablished. I'm just grateful that the scent I had going when those ladies came in was an acceptable herbal lavender and not some condemning burnt pumpkin patchouli. I had a run of melts I didn't like the last few days, through no fault of the vendors, since they were all heavily scented and blastingly strong, just not my preference. Gingered Bergamot for one, oh my goodness...to me, those two don't belong together, but maybe I'm just being contrary. Anyway I went with something simple today: Rosegirls Campfire Songs - from the Let's Go Camping Sampler, just a gentle smoky embers scent, not particularly strong but it's very pleasant. And no comment from the smoke alarm, so we're good. Take care all, stay well. Hugs all around.
  7. Mag - your toe re-broke, with help???!!! Noooooooo! I'm so sorry!
  8. Hello all!! Mag, I love this title - so true! The Jeep is making a terrible rattling noise under the gearshift, so I suspect something in the transmission.... We won't know until Thursday. I took it in early due to travel. Still this car has nearly 200k miles and has been the soul of dependability... So no complaints whatever it is. This morning I melted Portlandia from the Bunny Sisters and it had no scent which is unheard of from this vendor. It would have been a woodsy, airy scent. All is forgiven because this vendor usually fills the house. Take care all.
  9. Hello all! After two solid days of heavy rains here in Ohio, the sun is finally peeking out. Very chilly at 46F, but the wind has died down and I can reinflate Jack Skellington, who blew over on Wednesday. So many people in the world have had tragic weather events this week... Prayers for them all. I see there was a big earthquake in Turkey and Greece... Very sad. Mag, I salute you for burning so many candles!! I am definitely not moving through my candle stash...yikes. As for puny wicks and tunneling...this is where my patience grows very thin. I will take a look in the candle cupboard later on today. I am enjoying all sorts of wax goodies... This morning it was: VCS Fred and Ethel - pistachio and coconut - a gift from Michele and it is a lovely scent! Nellie's Acres Barnwood- a gift from Mag and I love this woody fall blend. This palm wax does pop right out of the cup after it hardens, which is lovely. I enjoyed these scents so much that I ordered two floral blends from Nellie's, and they should arrive on Monday! Up The Creek Peppermint Vanilla Lace - from the Peppermint Sampler which Debra recommended - I know I mentioned this the other day but it was still going strong this morning, two days for this one and it was just the sample! Very impressive! (Nooooooooo, another great vendor...) This week was a lot of driving and running around, even here at home for a local review, which is finished and I am very happy to be home. Tomorrow we take my Jeep to the shop because it is making a loud rattling sound. It's always something!! Take care everyone and Happy Halloween tomorrow!
  10. Good morning all, I had to drive back last night to go to a review at a vendor here in Cincinnati today...a little tired! It was pea soup fog for much of the drive so that was stressful. But it's all good. Two more months... Susan, that's tough when people won't wear their masks around caregivers - such a simple thing - I feel for you. Stay well my friend. Michele, that's great that you are consolidating wax. How it is going? I love that L3 Bluebeard although I have overdone blue sugar again and need a break. Mag, I remember that Colonial Candle Graveyard - I thought that was a wild scent, really fun. I did the same as you and pulled out all the Halloween wax. I don't think I'll finish it this week with all the running around but it can trickle into November. As for the sinus drip, I've done some experiments and am pretty sure it's a too-heavy amount of wax / scent load in the house. It only occurs inside the house or inside a hotel room when I'm melting. As soon as I go outside, it goes away, so I think I can rule out seasonal allergies or something specific to my home. If I don't melt inside, especially at night, it doesn't happen at all. So I have reduced the number of melters I have going at a time. So far, so good! From what I've learned about perfumes at work, they're typically skin sensitizers (causing an allergic skin reaction through contact) and respiratory irritants. So I don't think I've created an allergic reaction, just a respiratory response to an irritant, or too much fragrance oil in the air. That doesn't bode well for getting through this wax in any sort of speedy fashion, so one would think I would cut back on the ordering... But there is no way I'm giving up wax...I will melt in the garage if necessary and visit every hour! So today it's: Up The Creek Scents Peppermint Vanilla Lace - all sorts of gorgeousness! - from the Peppermint Sampler which Debra recommended, and throwing a mile. Have a great day everyone!
  11. Hello all, a quick note while I'm waiting for a meeting. Mag, thank you for your kind words... They mean a lot. Thanks, dear friend. I'm feeling better. Your camping trip sounds amazing... One of my favorite things to do... And the lingering smell of campfire smoke in all of the clothing is an added plus! Michele, I was thinking about you all of Sunday while you were at the memorial and I'm so glad that you were all able to gather and pay your last respects for your father. Sharon, good to hear from you and I hope you are doing ok in the new lockdown conditions! Susan, stay safe! You are on the front lines with patient care and I salute you. I will say that the drive yesterday wiped me out... I think knowing that I won't be doing this forever is allowing me to realize that I actually do get tired! Lol Last night and this morning it was: Empire Alchemy Rain or Shine (ozone, heavy rain, lush linen, grass, earth) And I love this one so much. It's very refreshing and smells like the outside does after a heavy rain. Beautiful! On a side note, I have noticed that if I have too much melting at a time in the house, I get a sinus drip. Same thing with melting in the bedroom overnight. I will take this as a warning sign of overloading my system and back off the number of melters, and also not keep a melter in the bedroom. This will not help to get through the wax, but it will help with overall health! Take care all!
  12. Hi ladies, Hope everyone is well. Michele, we are thinking about you and your family and I hope the memorial for your dad went well yesterday. Susan, it's good to see you! That L3 Don't Cross Streams is one of my favorite scents and it blends with everything. I'm making carrot cake for Steve's birthday and I forgot that this is a little bit labor intensive. The kitchen looks like a bomb went off so I have some cleanup to do. I also see that I have forgotten confectioner's sugar for the icing so there is a little trip up to the store involved. However it smells good in here and for once it's real food rather than wax. Take care everybody!
  13. Yes I do - it was my mom's from when she was in the nursing home, so it is brings many different emotions. However I enjoy rocking... Have to watch Clemmie's tail... The person below me is thinking about getting a new part time job once Covid passes...
  14. Well hello everyone, You all have been busy melting so many beautiful scents. It's lovely to read through your posts. I'm sorry to have been MIA. I haven't been feeling quite myself, a bit sad about the coming retirement, and missing the hospital group which is on pause due to Covid. But life is all about change... This too shall pass! Two full months of work yet to enjoy, music to learn, and wax to melt.... And, most importantly, friends to talk with. Please forgive me for hiding away for so long. Mag, Cannoli is growing so fast! I hope she is doing well. And I think short hair would look amazing on you. I'm so glad your daughter tested negative for Covid. I'm happy you made a dent in your summer stash and are getting good throw from some older wax, amazing! You always find interesting vendors for us to try. Michele, it was fabulous to get together with you and your husband. We had a beautiful day and the timing was great with the weather letting us eat outside. I'm sorry you are closing up the beach house for the winter. You've been getting through a lot of wax, too - and I'm glad that VRC sampler from last year is nice and strong. Sharon, I'm sorry you are in lockdown again. I guess this is happening all over the world in various spots, and I'm sure that after our elections the US will do it too, as our numbers are trending the wrong way again. Hopefully there will be a vaccine in due time and I'd rather they get it right than rush. Strange times, but this too shall pass. Susan, it's lovely to see you and I hope you are doing well. I hope that you and your clients are healthy and I can imagine it's tough with long hours of mask-wearing. I hope you have some beautiful wax to keep your spirits up. I'm still traveling for work most weeks, and we continue to be in masks full time, necessary as numbers everywhere seem to be increasing. I had a reprieve this week and have been enjoying the time at home, kind of a dress rehearsal for the months ahead. I walk for an hour every morning and the leaves are so colorful, and falling more every day. I've slowed down my melting and typically change the melters only once a day. I'm enjoying it much more this way and am appreciating the scents in more detail. As you may know, I went on an ordering frenzy recently ("retirement wax" is the current excuse) and the drawers are nearing capacity, so with slower melting I truly do need to slow my roll. But so many beautiful vendors! So much wonderful wax! Well yesterday it was: The Bunny Sisters Campfire Tales - suede and Tabac, marshmallow fireside, wood and earth - such a beautiful smoky, earthy scent and it lasted forever. 1803 Vineyard - thank you Mag for this beautiful wax, you are too kind! - the site doesn't list the scent notes but I'm thinking there must be some grape there, sweet and STRONG and it lasted for hours and hours, wonderful! Ruh roh, another excellent vendor! That's it for now. Some work calls today and then next week back on the road. I've been taking my guitar with me, and sometimes my keyboard, and it helps keep my spirits up. Hugs to all of you.
  15. Cyn! Now I'm the one apologizing...I missed your sweet reply. Will we ever go back to normal - only time will tell!! I always think things happen for a reason and there must be lessons to be learned through all of this... Fingers crossed!! Take care friend! Amy
  16. (you're right - Spotted Hog is down for the moment, sadness!! But yes... I can imagine we both have many fall scents already... But still...) (And yes... It makes sense that you would love those instruments, given that your daughters play them! I also would have a hard time narrowing down a favorite.) The person below me has tried Nigerian or other African food.
  17. Hello everyone! I'm sorry to have been so MIA. Mag, I remember that L3 real Men Wear Kilts and I liked it very much! I'm very happy you have finished your painting and I'm sure it looks gorgeous. How is your new puppy? Sharon, I can imagine it is getting cooler by you... My boss is in London and he is beginning to say how cold and drizzly it is. Michele, you will have your hands full once your daughter has those twins! It's so exciting! Plus another wedding coming up -a very busy year for all of you. Your VCS coffee scent sounds beautiful. I have been melting a lot of Empire Alchemy and loving every minute (thanks again Mag for discovering it!!). But today is: Hayden Rowe Christmas Sweater - apple, violet, cotton, VBN, and citrus... So beautiful even though It does not particularly remind me of Christmas! This came in a scoop and I really like her flat found scoop containers - easy to dip into. We have been busy with some home maintenance items... Most recently, the gutters have been cleaned out and the septic tank has been pumped out, always a favorite. We are getting new wood floors at the end of October / beginning of November and I'm really looking forward to that. And - we are looking to seeing Michele and her husband very soon when they come out to Ohio! We are very excited and plan to give them the grand tour of our little town (which should take a matter of minutes, lol!). I am home this week due to some rescheduling in West Virginia but will be back on the road next week. The weather is spectacular this week so I am very grateful to be home. Take care everybody and stay safe!!
  18. Good morning all! Another week is moving briskly along. I'm so happy for the cooler mornings. Driving home tomorrow rather than Friday because we should finish today. Mag... Please be careful painting up so high...I know you are cautious but gee whiz... We are not 25 anymore... And not buying wax for 1,245 years is maybe a long time, when I can't even get through one month...I love LOM from L3 so that must be amazing with the pomegranate! And yes - Jeff Beck was incredible. I actually went to see Santana, and it was spur of the moment... This must have been 25 years ago... And Jeff Beck was opening for him. I wasn't familiar with him and I just lost my mind over his playing... For me, his part of the concert surpassed Santana, who I love... The soaring melody lines... His tone... And I love him to this day. I was so lucky to get to see him. Maybe again... Michele, I'm so happy the closing went well. Also yes... We carry the memories with us. Big hugs my friend. Your L3 sounds like one from her bakery sampler - amazing. Enjoy!! Cyn, thank you for keeping us rolling... You do a lot behind the scenes and I know we all appreciate it!! I hope you are doing well. What are you melting or burning these days? So it's been: Destination Wax Lavender Mint - herbal and gorgeous - and so strong. Rainbow Melts Warm Sweater - brown sugar, fig, cotton - this is lovely but it needed a little something something - so I added one cube of YC Spiced Pumpkin and it is perfect for me now. I've been playing music every day in the hotel and this is really helping me keep my spirits up. Take care everybody and stay safe. Susan, Sharon, Honeybear, let us know how you are doing.
  19. (I will be happy to dance EXACTLY like that, In fact, I am practicing it now. We will find something excellent.) (And yes!! I remember that one from The Spotted Hog, and it was excellent... Also her Spider Cider and Deadly Donuts, was that the name? LOL! Oooh, should we place a little order?) Apple scents... If Apple and I were on Facebook, our relationship status would be "it's complicated." We have broken up so many times. However, we can't stay away from one another. Your Northern Lights blend sounds so beautiful... And of course it's discontinued. I hope someone will be able to do as customs for you. I would say that I prefer green apple to Mac apple.... And yes there is one I love - from VCS, but of course I have forgotten the name, which is green apple and ginger ale - fabulous! Hayden Rowe also has a nice green apple, and I have forgotten that name as well... How about you?? The person below me has a favorite musical instrument she likes to listen to.
  20. (ha! One of my goals is for us to go to a live concert together.) Well, I have decorated with gourds in the past, but not lately... But that sounds like a good idea and now you are giving me ideas! The person below me has a specific favorite pumpkin scent from a specific vendor.
  21. Good morning all! Taking a quick break on the drive back to stretch my legs. I've been on the road for about 4 hours and since it is very cloudy and foggy, my view is not the most spectacular but it's an easy drive without much traffic. Michele, I know it is a big relief to have your father's house finally cleared out, but it is a bittersweet moment as well and my heart goes out to you. I love the name of that VCS Filthy Animal blend. Sharon and Mag, congratulations on your haircuts...Doesn't it feel like your head will just float away, when it's been a while since the last trim? Lol. I don't have the courage to trim the back of mine by myself so it continues to grow. I actually am liking it a little longer but I need some help with the layers and the bangs and the angling of the bottom... and that will just have to wait. This morning I have in the car a little silicone liner cup that I use sometimes on the road from my wax because it makes it easy to change, and in it is: Destination Wax Lavender & Manuka Honey - from the other day... This is just such a gorgeous blend. I have the little liner cup sitting on the dashboard by the air vent and it is blowing the lovely scent through the car. Ahhhhhhh I think I have about 4 hours to go and I am listening to an assortment of music...lots of classic rock and fusion guitar that I will never be able to play, lol! Jeff Beck...I got to hear him live about 20 years ago and ohhhhhh... Have a great day everybody and happy Friday!
  22. Good morning all, Well the week is going by quickly. So far so good and tomorrow I drive home. Having the keyboard and guitar along really help me relax in the evenings. Mag I think it's so funny that you hated your minivan... They're just so...big and ungainly. But yes, with four kids you truly needed it - with all their backpacks and clothes and sports gear - you had to. I've gotten used to this beast now, and at least I can always find it in the parking lot. It also comes in handy in another way... I've been taking boxes to the Salvation Army en route. We have a storage locker with things we have not looked at in years and it is time to lighten the load. I'm taking three or four boxes a week and my goal is to get out of that locker. We were going to do a big garage sale but it just seems like too much work. It's much cooler in the mornings now and I'm actually looking forward to fall wax. Yesterday I was in the Walmart here and I did wander down the wax aisle but didn't buy anything, wonder of wonders. WoodWick has some lovely new melts - Spiced Blackberry, Pumpkin Butter, and Wood Smoke - all beautiful, but it's fair to say I already have a few things just like those. *Sigh* Well I don't know if it's the airtightness of the hotel room here or what, but I only need a tiny piece of wax to fill the room. So I'm not making much of a dent this week. However, there have been some great scents. This morning it's a repeat because I like it so well: Empire Alchemy Get Lost - Febreze Hawaiian Aloha and Gummi Bears - fresh and lightly fruity and laundry, really love this. Last night was: TBG Teaberry Bubblegum - wintergreen and bubblegum - and I liked it a lot at first but I have to say I needed to move on within a couple of hours. If you think about the old Teaberry gum, it's that same effect and it's fun, but it's kind of biting and a short time was enough. I hope everyone has a good Thursday. Are you folks starting to haul out the fall decorations? I think I will get out the pumpkin warmers next week. Take care everybody!
  23. Yes I can whistle. In and out, lol. I blame my father for this... Long hours singing and whistling in the car. It has come in useful... one of the songs we do in our little group is Don't Worry, Be Happy, and there is whistling. I'm not as good as Bobby McFerrin so I always ask for help. The person below me has watched an entire concert online.
  24. Good morning everyone, I hope everyone is well. It sounds as though you all are melting beautiful scents. Another 8-hour drive yesterday but the weather was beautiful. And there's the first hint of leaves starting to fall. I'm reluctant to let go of summer this year. Mag, I do understand your rationale behind the tiling. That's a lot of hard work... As well as putting the pool and patio to bed for the year. I can't believe you slept through an earthquake but that just shows how tired you must have been! As for Empire Alchemy... I'm in love. Beautiful blends! I'm so glad you found her for us! Michele, my heart goes out to you, packing up your father's house. That's a lot of work and it is heart-rending... And that generation saved every little tiny piece of everything. Hugs to you. Sharon, your wax sounds beautiful. Update on the haircut please! Mine continues to grow... And a very belated Happy Birthday to your DH!! I have two melters in the hotel - one in the bathroom, one in the bedroom - and it's: Empire Alchemy Get Lost - Febreze Hawaiian Aloha, Gummi Bears - another gorgeous and unusual combination - the laundry in the Febreze saves this one from being overly sweet and I love it. Destination Wax Lavender Manuka Honey - lavender, bergamot, and New Zealand honey - this is herbal and beautiful. Another vendor I can't get enough of, and it's a good thing the website is closed until October. I'm on a "ban" again bit I guess it's more of a "low buy"..…lather, rinse, repeat! Debra, Valerie, Susan - hello to all of you and don't be a stranger....... like I have been... Work will be busy for the next few months, but that's a good thing. I am renting the car by the month since it's going to be every week again... The only thing they had left last week at the little rental near us was a huge minivan, lol, which DH has named The Lusitania. They said I could switch it for something smaller, but now that it has a name, I've grown a bit attached to it. It's the same price for any size because it's through work... Anchors Aweigh! Take care all and happy melting.
  25. Hi Cyn! Thank you for this update. It sounds like a ton of work and I know we all appreciate it. The forum is so huge and although I have greatly enjoyed going back and reading posts from days gone by, it's true that most of us who still come here mostly use SOTD or Games. What you're doing makes total sense to me, and I hope the others agree as I am a relative newbie (coming up on only three years in January). Thanks again for the huge task you're doing, and I hope you are doing well during this very strange year of 2020! Best wishes, Amy
