What did my candle smell like?
It’s not often I receive a candle that I’m blown away by but I’ve got to say… I’m pretty blown away by the candle I received from Flashpoint Candles. This candle was in one word – GORGEOUS!!!! Like, showcase – you’ll want to display this candle as a centerpiece – gorgeous.
Here is a bit of info on it I pulled on the candle I received from Flashpoints website:
The Saxon candle is hand-poured in Ohio by American candle artisans. The candle is 2lbs of wax and sprinkled with 6 cotton wicks for maximum glow and light cast. Each Saxon vessel is made from Earthenware clay and handmade into a low bowl pottery styling. Each pottery piece is of exceptional quality with beautiful reactive glazing and hand dipped interior glaze of the FlashPoint Candle signature sky blue. Every Saxon vessel has this pop beuatiful blue glaze on the interior of the pottery no matter the extrior glaze choice. Every peice is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly as with any truly handmade artisan product. Give a Saxon candle as a special gift or place on a dining table, coffee table or bed-side stand. At 9″ diameter this stunning candle can be used almost anywhere in the home, adding an artful object is often the finishing touch to any room, let the Saxon six wick soy blend candle be the final detail in your decor. Every piece of pottery can be repurposed in the home or outdoors after the candle is finished. Yes, you will definitely want to re-purpose these vessels once you finish your candle. They’re too pretty not to and large enough to hold just about anything.
I spent hours browsing Flashpoint’s website looking at all their candles. I couldn’t help myself. Everything I saw blew me away and the sizes… oh my goodness!! They offer so many choices from standard glass candles to wedding, outdoor, indoor, pottery, citronella and multi-wick in a multitude of collections. I’m reviewing one of their pottery multi-wicks in the scent English Pear – the candle I received had 6 wicks but they go all the way up to 23. TWENTY THREE WICKS!! Just imagine the size of that candle – yeah – huge! And priced to reflect it too at $379 a pop. I know that 
sounds steep but that would be a candle to showcase, not burn. At least I would anyway.
Before I get into the fragrance, I have to be honest… it was VERY hard for me to light this candle. I didn’t want to and neither did my kids. Both of my boys couldn’t believe the size and how many wicks it had. My husband called it a “beautiful cereal bowl with wicks” and couldn’t believe the size. Basically, all of us thought it was too big and pretty to burn. But, I did it anyway.
Here is the scent description for English Pear:
A sophisticated blend of sweet Bartlett pear and sparkling, effervescent Champagne to delight the senses. Warm amber base notes round out the mellow fruitiness of this fragrance.
Smelling the wax for the first time, I smelled a sweet and creamy pear fragrance. Very smooth and sweet, like an overripe pear. I liked it right off the bat.
Because this candle was so huge, I felt safe lighting it in my big master bedroom. First initial impression… this candle is beyond gorgeous to watch burning. The six wicks lit right up and boy did this candle glow beautifully from then on. It took a good hour to reach a full melt pool, even with that many wicks. The aroma… a light and sweet pear scent. The fragrance was subtle but did fill my bedroom with fragrance… just very lightly. The overall aroma smelled lovely… a sweet and creamy pear.
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned beautifully. Zero wick issues. Burned clean and even from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
I am really glad I had the chance to try a Flashpoint candle. It was gorgeous, the candle itself and to watch burn. In my opinion, this is a candle more suitable for showcasing rather than every day burning. Bottom line, it should be the centerpiece at any table, lit or unlit. Once lit, it’s striking to watch burn so I can’t imagine what the larger candles would be like. Spectacular would be my guess. It killed me to burn this candle when no one else could see it but me – but, it had to be done since I was reviewing it.
I also want to point out, the candle I tried was pretty light (strength wise) but my guess is, these candles are not really about fragrance. They’re 
designed to display.
Flashpoint also has an array of outdoor candles with citronella. I keep thinking of outdoor dinner parties and how gorgeous these candles would be displayed outside. If you go to their website, you’ll find plenty of pictures to give you an idea of what they look like. In all sizes.
Definitely check this site out when you get a chance. They are expensive depending on the size you choose but they offer discounts and they really are worth every penny. Plus, you can re-purpose the vessel once the candle is finished. That’s definitely something you’ll want to do because the vessel itself is worth keeping.
