It never ceases to amaze us the talent we find when searching handmade candles and wax melts on Etsy. It’s a treasure trove of talent, and we always find something new to try. That’s how we ended up visiting Nyah’s shop, August Moon. We tried several different candles and wax melts, including some adorable ones shaped like tools – Dirty wax melts.

Packaging/Presentation
The Dirty wax melts were a perfect fit for our June subscription boxes, which was a Father’s Day themed box. The melts were all shaped like little tools – a hammer, a wrench, nuts and bolts. The definition was amazing! The wax was colored all black and packaged in a small ziplock baggie. The scent name was on a label outside the package but not the company name.
Authenticity
These cute Dirty wax melts didn’t smell dirty at all to me! They had a rustic, earthy type scent that was comforting and familiar. The scent description is:

Once I started melting these little babies, I got enough of the scent to know what I was working with. These Dirty wax melts really smelled more like freshly dug dirt with some grassy notes thrown in the mix. Once it started melting pretty good, I noticed a somewhat cologne-y note to it, too. It was a very earthy and somewhat masculine scent. I loved it!
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
The scent strength for these were light to moderately strong. They did smell stronger when I cured them a couple of weeks prior to melting. The scent throw itself was fantastic, especially using a tealight melter. I was able to get the scent to fill the room (using several tools) and then a little on into the next.
Melt Performance
I used about 3-4 tools at a time in my hotplate melter and only 2 at a time using my tealight melter. I was amazed at how long I was able to enjoy the scent! I had the same tools melting throughout the day before they started to fade a bit. Not bad for these little pieces!
Conclusion
We were super impressed with the Dirty wax melts from August Moon Candles. The products are like miniature works of art, and these wax melts were no exception. The cuteness factor is just a bonus, though – these little fellas do pack a punch. If you like earthy, fresh scents then you will probably enjoy these. We certainly did!
