Door County Candle Company has been a Door County tradition for over 25 years. In 1993, working in his basement, Mike Felhofer mastered the art of candle making and started Door County Candle Company. Mike oversaw extraordinary growth in the popularity of his candle products and grew the business to become a large wholesale manufacturer distributing to gift shops throughout the Midwest and beyond. In 1999, Mike sold the business and retired for a couple of years.
Mike and his wife Tonya soon felt the calling to make candles once again. With their knowledge, experience and commitment, they, once again, began to produce handcrafted, premium scented candles of the highest quality. With a young, growing family, however, they decided to forego wholesale distribution and, instead, focused their efforts on their own retail store. This strategy allowed them more time with their family as well as more time to share with their customers in their own store creating a unique Door County shopping experience.
Mike and Tonya have taken great care to create a thoroughly enjoyable shopping experience going beyond just candles. In our spacious gift shop, we offer a large and ever-changing selection of candle accessories, home accents and fashion accessories. Because we make our candles right in our shop, you can watch and smell on the days that we pour our handcrafted candles. We also offer a unique and affordable opportunity for young and old alike to dip your own colorful candle creations and create a special memory of your visit to Door County.
