What did my candle look like?

My candle was identical to the picture above. I like the style of these jars, they have an almost rustic appeal. My candle was 12oz and in a cylinder style status jar. The label on the candle was oval and had the scent name at the top with the Shining Sol logo in the center. My favorite part… the lid… it was real wood and flat with the Shining Sol logo embossed deep into the wood. Very well done! The wax (all soy) was a caramel brown with a centered wood wick.

What did my candle smell like?

Oh my goodness!! As soon as I smelled this candle, I was blown away by how realistic it smelled. Out of all the candles Shining Sol sent me, this was the candle I kept going back to over and over again. I knew this was the first one I wanted to review. It smelled AMAZING!!

“The undeniable scent of caramel popcorn, reminiscent of fall festivals, pumpkin patches and fairs across the USA.”

This fragrance totally 100% smells like caramel popcorn, you literally want to eat it as soon as you smell it. You can smell it all, the caramel, the butter and the popcorn perfectly combined and it’s mouthwatering. MOUTHWATERING!!!!! I have tried my fair share of caramel popcorn scents and all of them lack that authenticity I’m searching for. After smelling this candle, I’ve realized it’s the butter element that makes it smell so realistic. And this candle is IT!! As I kept smelling the wax, buttery caramel popcorn wafted all around my nose. It was that realistic. Can you tell how much I like this fragrance?

I lit this candle in a small bathroom to start out and I ended up leaving it there from beginning to end. I want to mention, initially, it took a little bit of work to get the wick to light up and stay lit. I don’t know why. I would light it and half the wick would go out, the other half just a warm glow (not a flame) and then eventually the whole thing would go out. After a good 15 minutes of this, it finally ignited and it was fine. I’m glad I stayed persistent because I almost gave up.

The fragrance…. A true and delicious caramel popcorn just like it smelled cold. This really is the best and most authentic one I’ve ever tried. The buttery caramel stands out the most with hints of popcorn. It’s beyond yummy!!

Strength – this candle was pretty lightly scented and I think because the wick never really burned hot enough to get the wax super hot. That’s just a guess. The fragrance did fill my small bathroom with scent so I was still happy. I found myself taking deep breathes of this fragrance every time I was in the room.  Once you smell it, you’ll seriously want to eat this candle.

Were there sound effects with this candle since it was a wood wick? Yes but it was pretty faint and I was fine with that… I was happy with the overall scent and the candle was still really pretty to watch burn. If I happened to be in the room… I could hear slight crackling sounds… it was actually perfect for a small room.

How did my candle burn?

As stated above, it did take some work getting the wick to ignite with each new burn but once it did, it was fine. The flame stayed really mellow and I never once had to trim it with my fingers. This was a really slow burning candle too so you get your money’s worth for sure. It burned clean, no wasted wax.

Closing to my review:

I did enjoy this candle and absolutely LOVED the fragrance. My only wish was that this candle would have been stronger. If you’ve been searching for an authentic caramel popcorn, your search is over… this is your candle, 100% without a doubt… it is THAT amazing! I know Shining Sol has melts too so I bet those will be much stronger. I’ll for sure go that route when I’m ready to plan an order.

I still have more candles to burn and review from this company which I’m looking forward to. So, stay tuned!
