What did my candle smell like?

This is the last candle I have to review from Barn Candle Co. I saved it for last since it’s a holiday fragrance and I’m so glad I did. It was really lovely and a perfect scent to burn on a cold and chilly day.

Let’s start off with the scent description for Comfort & Joy:

“Crisp Granny Smith apples are flavorfully kissed with citrus sparkle and a hint of spice. Fresh, invigorating holly leaves dance atop accords of sophisticated earthy woods to complete this joyous fragrance.”

green apple with cinnamon sticks isolated on the white background Mmm! I love apple scents! That’s also quite the scent description which I do appreciate. It’s fun to see if I can break down what I’m smelling while comparing it to the description. First impression…. fruity notes mixed with spice. Not sure on the holly, citrus sparkle or earthy woods. We’ll see once I start burning my candle.

Because this was a small 8oz candle, I decided to burn it in a small bathroom to start out. Once lit, it took very little time to start noticing the aroma and once I did, I smelled a nice and subtle fruity scent with hints of spice. I really wasn’t sure I was smelling all the sophistication in the scent description but that’s not uncommon to be able to pick apart every element. To me, this fragrance was a warm fruit scent with the perfect touch of spice.

Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 5. It wasn’t super strong…. it was more subtle and soft and that was burning it in a really small powder room. Should you purchase this scent, I would go with the larger jar. I’m sure it will give a much better scent throw.

How did my candle burn?

My candle burned perfect. No issues. Clean and even burn. I did have to keep up on wick maintenance or the flame would get out of hand but that’s normal with almost all candles. A+ on burn performance.

Closing to my review:

I enjoyed this fragrance but I think next time I’ll go with a larger jar. They just give better scent throws… in general anyway. This smaller jar was pretty lightly scented so something to keep in mind should you order the smaller candle.

This was a delightful holiday scent regardless of the strength so for those who don’t care for super spicy scents but are still after something on the festive side, you would enjoy this one.
