Introduction to my Colonial Candle review…

Colonial candles are a very big name in the candle world and a company I’ve always wanted to try but never have until recently. You can find this brand all over the place but your best bet of purchasing these candles are through their direct website or stores like Linens N. Things or Bed Bath & Beyond.

Every time I’m around Colonial Candles, I can’t help but want to pop off all the lids and smell them all. I could easily pick out quite a few to purchase. So many great signature fragrances and their oval candles are simply stunning. This review centers around a scent called Black Cherry Sorbet… a candle I found locally in my area.

Colonial at Home jars are pretty stylish with their oval design which sets them apart from other brands out there. My candle was also double wicked which I prefer. The wax color of my Black Cherry Sorbet candle was a pretty redish/purple.

How did my Black Cherry Sorbet candle from Colonial smell?

I’m not really a fan of cherry scents but since this candle was on sale, I made an exception. First sniff, it didn’t really grab me. In fact, I thought I was going to be disappointed and surprisingly, I wasn’t.colonial at home, colonial at home candles, colonial at home candle, candle colonial at home, candles colonial at home, scented candles colonial at home, colonial at home scented candles,shopcolonialcandle.com,colonial candles, colonial at home candle company, colonial at home candle review

I lit my candle in my bedroom which is my usual morning routine and went about my business. I came back about an hour later to a light scent of cherry “something”, not quite sure what I was smelling yet but it was definitely fruity and sweet. I came back a little while later to a fragrance that was nice and strong, so this candle took a bit for the scent to really kick in. Here is the scent description from Colonial at Home’s website:

“The rich succulence of juicy black cherries comes alive with this delightful fragrance. This complex formula combines the fragrances of ripe cherries, berries and black currants with a touch of orange and vanilla for a sweet, and long-lasting aroma.”

It’s definitely a fruity fragrance and the scent is dense and strong. It’s not one of those fragrances that you can only smell when you enter the room. Nope, this one you can smell all the time. After reading the description, I started paying more attention to the fragrance and although I could smell cherries and maybe black currant, I couldn’t smell orange or vanilla at all. I think because cherry is such a strong scent and naturally overpowers. The orange and vanilla were probably there in the mix to help smooth and soften the scent.

I liked it, it’s a nice cherry scent and great for anytime of the year.

How did my Colonial candle burn?

My candle burned pretty evenly. I also found I didn’t have to trim my wicks at all. No soot or black smoke at all.  I was impressed.

Closing to my review:

Surprisingly, I liked this candle. It’s not what I expected and I’m glad I kept going even though I didn’t care for the initial first colonial at home, colonial at home candles, colonial at home candle, candle colonial at home, candles colonial at home, scented candles colonial at home, colonial at home scented candles,shopcolonialcandle.com,colonial candles, colonial at home candle company, colonial at home candle reviewsmell.  It burned fine and the fragrance was strong for an 8oz candle so I was definitely impressed with that.

I recently learned today that Colonial plans on retiring Black Cherry Sorbet. I wish I would have known that before burning this candle to review but I didn’t know. Now that you have this bit of info, I’m guessing that’s why I got such a great deal on it. Anyway, if you’re interested enough and you want to try this fragrance, I suggest going to a store ASAP and getting it while you can.

Happy candle burning!
