I’m always a little leery about asking my daughter to pick me up some candles on her way back home. She and I have completely different tastes in candles, and I just never know. So when she came from Bath & Body Works with Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla from White Barn Candles, I thought…great…a super spicy scent. Much more her cup of tea! Still, I was intrigued to try this little bundle of joy from White Barn, as I had not burned any of their candles in a long while.

First Impression of Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla:

This jar was pleasing to the eye in its simplicity. I’m so used to all the bling bling with the candles from Bath & Body Works, it was refreshing to have this sophisticated looking candle in my hands. The candle wax was white with a single wick and there was a black, screw-top lid sealing in the goodness. The label was pretty – a copper-brown with a gold accent. The label also indicated that this candle was “made with essential oils.”

When I took the lid off, I was hit with a pleasant surprise. This smelled like COOKIES!!! Ohmygoodness, it smelled just like warm snickerdoodle cookies, fresh from the oven. The scent was not overpowering but distinct. I was in love!

I whipped on over to the website to pull the scent description:

Ground Cinnamon, Sugar Crystals, Vanilla Bean with Essential Oils

That wasn’t much to go on, but I really didn’t care. My nose knew what it was smelling and it was very pleasing!

Since this was a smaller candle, I lit in in a guest bedroom and left it to do its thing. I walked back into the room about 30 minutes later and was greeted with that same warm cookie smell. This time I got more of the creamy vanilla scent, too. While this scent did say “Cinnamon Spiced,” it wasn’t heavy on the spice at all. There was just enough of the sweet cinnamon to know it was there and to round out the scent. Yum!

The candle definitely had a lighter scent strength with a mild throw. I could smell it in the small room I was in but not beyond. When I tried moving this to a large, open living area, it got swallowed up and didn’t do much for that space.

How Did My Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla Candle Burn?

This candle gave a clean, even burn. It took about an hour to get a full wax melt pool. After burning down about 2/3 of the way, the wax did start hanging up on the sides. Not a lot, but enough to notice. Still, a slow-burning candle that didn’t produce any black soot for me. It lasted a really long time, too!

Closing To My Review:

I was pleasantly surprised with Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla from White Barn Candles. It was not nearly as spicy as I thought it would be – as a matter of fact, there was just a hint of the spiciness. To me, this was more about warm vanilla cookies. And man, were they good!

Even though it was a light scent, I would definitely buy this candle again. I would probably buy two (three?) to use in my open living area because it’s a perfect scent for there.

Happy candle burning!
