Introduction to my review:
I had every intention to get this review finished to post well before Christmas but it wasn’t meant to be. December is THE most hectic month of the year (at least for me anyway) and I got way too side tracked time and again. The good news… Winter Candy Apple should not be relegated to holiday burning only… this is a great scent all year round.
White Barn Candle Co. is a monster brand and available at Bath and Body Works, one of my favorite stores ever! I could spend hours in that store just smelling everything from bath & body to all their delicious candles. Since I don’t have a store close to me, I do most of my shopping online. It’s not as fun but a nice alternative. It’s so convenient and they always have great sales or free shipping specials which makes it even better. I bought Winter Candy Apple thinking it would make a great Christmas review and even though that didn’t pan out…. this scent is great any time of year, even in summer so keep that in mind if you run across this candle while shopping. It’s even on sale for $10 bucks online which is a great price… so stock up while you can.
What did my Winter Candy Apple Candle Look Like?
This is a really pretty and festive candle… I loved the whole winter theme. The jar itself is the same shape as White Barn’s “real essence” classic jars but the outside design of this candle was really cool. It’s a vibrant red with big white and red leaves and snowflakes all over the outside jar. I’m horrible at descriptions so please see picture to the left for a better visual reference. 😉 The wax color was red and my candle had one wick.
How did my Winter Candy Apple Candle Smell?
Scent description from the Bath & Body Works website:
“Crisp apple, sweet orange and pineapple mingle with cinnamon spice in this joyous holiday scent.”
I bought this candle without smelling it first so I had no idea what to expect but if I had any, I think it would have been a spicy apple scent or a fragrance with maybe hints of peppermint rather than the sweet fruity aroma it gave off. Another surprise… I didn’t think apple dominated this scent at all and that really surprised me because apple usually always dominates when mixed with other scents. The orange and pineapple really toned it down so the overall fragrance was sweet and even tangy… it almost reminded me of a fruit salad type scent. Loved it!!I started this candle burning in my bedroom (which is quite large) and it held its own very nicely. The moment I walked into the room, I could smell the sweet and fruity aroma everywhere. I couldn’t smell any cinnamon whatsoever in this fragrance as indicated in the description and I even kept putting my nose up to the candle to see if it was even there…. nada…. To me, there was nothing really “wintery” about this scent. It was fruity and sweet and honestly, a nice change of pace from all the spicy bakery scents I’ve had going lately.
How did my Winter Candy Apple Candle burn?
This candle didn’t burn as great as it should have. It took a long time to get a decent melt pool and even when it got as far as it could, there was still about 1/4 inch of wax left on the sides of the jar. I hate wasting wax so I ended up using my wick dipper to push the leftover wax into the melted wax pool. Wallah! Problem solved!… not a perfect solution to some but good enough for me.
Closing to my Winter Candy Apple review from White Barn Candle Co:
I enjoyed this fragrance (quite a bit) and would definitely purchase it again. One aspect I love about B&B Works is they always have great sales going so if you’ve always shied away from this brand due to the price… wait for their next sale…. they’re doozies and worth the wait.
Winter Candy Apple was a lively scent and a refreshing break from all the heavier scents I’ve been migrating towards this winter. Definitely give it a whirl if you run across it on your next shopping excursion.
Happy New Year!!

i'm not sure they have this scent this season! i was there a couple days ago and saw it in their lotions/body washes and thought it smelled super great but didn't see it in candle form. they did however have a 'hot toddy' scented candle which was of course very apple-y. maybe ill give that a try. because i usually like to have one apple scented candle during my winter season of candle burning 🙂 also i second you on waiting on b&b w's sales. they really do have them so often it's silly not to wait for one!
