Introduction to my Pure Integrity Candle review:
When it comes to clean burning soy candles, Pure Integrity is the benchmark. They’ve had years of consistent quality both in products and customer service. Pure Integrity knows how to keep it simple with a manageable scent list and a website that makes quick work of finding scents and ordering products. They offer four sizes of frosted jar candles, along with tea lights, melts, and reed diffusers.
The scent list describes each scent and has a scent strength listed to give the consumer some idea of what to expect. They seem to understand that it’s hard to buy a scented candle without the benefit of sniffing a jar so they make sure to provide as much information as possible when describing each scent.
Each order includes a hand written note and a couple of sample tea lights nicely packaged in a little organza bag. These little extra touches make receiving a package from Pure Integrity a real pleasure. Whenever I open a box from Pure Integrity, I feel like I’ve received a gift, even if I’m the one who ordered it in the first place… doesn’t matter… it still feels like a pampering gift.
What do my candles from Pure Integrity look like?
For this review I tried two scents in 10 ounce double wicked, frosted jar candles and two scents in melt form. Mineral Springs was a pale, slate blue that darkened when melted. The color was beautiful and well matched to the scent. The Cranberry Spice jar candle wax looked mauve and darkened to a burgundy color when melted. Both jar candles were frosted 10 ounce jars with fitted wooden lids. They had wide mouths and were both double wicked.
The melts I tried were in clamshell containers with Pure Integrity labels on the lids. Hot Apple Strudel was a pale mauve color and Hot Mulled Cider was a tan color.
How did my candles from Pure Integrity smell?
“A brilliant aromatic fusion of sparkling mineral water with fresh ozone. Mild notes of bergamot mingle with ylang ylang, white birch and amber to create fresh, earthy ozone fragrance.”
It rained at daybreak today. We don’t often get morning rain storms in Southwest Florida. Our storms usually arrive like clockwork in the afternoons and mostly in the summer months. Today’s early rain was especially exhilarating, and perfectly timed too, for reviewing Mineral Springs. After weeks of warm, dry days, I was ready for some wet weather and a watery, fresh ozone scent.
I tried Mineral Springs from Pure Integrity in a 10 ounce candle. The fragrance was more than an ozone scent. The description reads mild notes of bergamot, but my nose got a good clear whiff of it. The bergamot was bright and well balanced in the scent giving it a citrusy kind of freshness. The ozone note was less prominent than I had expected. At the same time, there was a woodsy, floral feel to Mineral Springs that perfumed the air and filled my largest open area of the house. This candle pumped out fragrance like crazy! It was noticeable to me immediately whenever I walked into the room and even after I had been around the candle a while, I could still smell it with every inhale.
This scent was a perfect complement to the stormy weather. Like the rain outside, Mineral Springs made the air inside smell fresh and washed clean, like a renewal of sorts…. a fresh start to the day.
“Incredibly tart and juicy cranberries blended with a hint of warm spices. A very popular holiday sent among P.I. customers!”
Let me say right off the bat that my family has a fondness for fruity scents. They like the sweet, tart berries best, and they all raved about this candle scent. When I find a scent that everyone in the family likes, I consider it a keeper. Cranberry Spice was one of those scents that everyone liked and because it was nice and strong, I liked it too.
I can never get over how a scent can smell like something juicy. How can that be? Cranberry Spice is one of those juicy smelling scents. It reminded me of cranberry juice or even a dark grape juice. I can see why this is a popular holiday scent, but really, it’s for all year round. I like the smell of cranberries anytime. They are one of my favorite berry scents. The spice notes come through much clearer up close. From farther away, my nose picked up mostly juicy cranberry or grape and up close I got a nice punch of spicy heat.
Cranberry Spice was a good strong scent that filled the room, as suggested on Pure Integrity’s website. The throw from this candle easily rivaled the throw from most melts.
Hot Apple Strudel
” Sweet golden delicious, tart green apples baked with cinnamon and wrapped in delicious flaky pastry dough. This is a wonderful baked apple scent with hints of frosting, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices. Very different from our other apple scents – One of our fall top sellers!” Strong
What’s your preference? Bakery apples or juicy apple cider? I couldn’t decide so I tried both scents in melt form to see how they compared. Hot Apple Strudel has a baked edge to it. It’s the pastry version of apples. Compared to the Hot Apple Cider scent, this one was sweeter and milder. It was less about the apple and more about the baked dough and sugary frosting.
I’ve been trying to make healthier food choices so I welcomed the opportunity to at least smell the bakery goodness. That’s one of the best things about melting wax…one doesn’t need to give up the more decadent fragrance. I got to enjoy the smell of Hot Apple Strudel with reckless abandon.
This melt scent had the lightest throw of the four scents I tried. After the door busting throw from the candle fragrances, this one smelled much tamer.
Hot Mulled Cider
” A spicy bouquet of fresh mulled Macintosh apples with a touch of cinnamon and clove. A wonderful warm retreat on a glorious, cool fall day.” Strong
This scent had no bakery notes in it. It was another of those mind-boggling juicy smelling fragrances. It smelled like a simmer pot filled with spices and apple slices… cinnamon sticks and whole cloves… big and bold.
I didn’t need a cool fall day to embrace this scent, and thank goodness for that because days like that are few and far between around here. This scent did bring a cozy feeling to the room and made the kitchen smell welcoming and warm. The scent was not wildly different than other Mulled Cider scents I’ve smelled but with these melts, the throw was key and the melts delivered. I used two cubes at a time and they gave a good, hearty throw throughout the kitchen. These Hot Mulled Cider melts smelled and performed exactly as I expected, which adds piece of mind when choosing and ordering scented candles or melts online.
How did my Pure Integrity candles burn?
Both of my Pure Integrity candles burned the same way. The double wicked jars formed quick half inch melt pools. The wicks stayed strong and needed a normal amount of trimming. The candles tended to burn hot for me, so I made sure to extinguish them every so often and I didn’t let either one burn for an extended period of time. In between burns I was able to trim the wicks. The candles burned beautifully. They were pretty to look at and burned clean all the way through.
Closing to my review…
Pure Integrity has many tried and true favorite scents for me to reorder, but they also add new and seasonal fragrances in to spice things up a bit. This suits me just fine. I can get some favorites and venture out into the unknown scents with confidence. It’s good to know that whenever I get a candle from this company, it will perform well. It will burn clean, the wax will melt to the edges, and the scent will be consistent whether it’s the second or twenty second time I order it. It’s good to know that customer support is just an email away should I have any questions.
In closing, this site is top notch with incredible candles. You cannot go wrong with anything you purchase.
Happy candle shopping!
