Mango Salsa Colonial Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Colonial Candle
Type: 22oz large oval candle
Fragrance: Mango Salsa
Scent Strength: Strong
First impression of Mango Salsa:
Mango Salsa smelled amazing right off the bat. The moment I popped off the lid to smell the wax… a sweet and creamy mango and something else I couldn’t pinpoint hit my nose. I really liked it, whatever it was.
Here is the scent description from Colonial’s website:
Savor the wedges of succulent mango fruit, sugared guava, and sun blushed papaya.
That’s what I smelled!! Guava!! Maybe even papaya, it was hard to tell. Whatever I was smelling, it was tropical, creamy and so perfect when you’re in the mood for something creamy and fruity at the same time.
I like it! Now let’s see how this candle performs!
I lit this candle in my large master bedroom. Colonial’s large candles are generally strong for me so I felt safe lighting this one in a big room. Once the wicks were lit, it took not even an hour to reach a full melt pool and the scent….. Mmmm!!! Mango salsa was a perfect name for this scent. It was a salsa blend of sweet tropical fruits. I smelled everything in the scent description… mango, papaya and guava all the way with mango standing out the most to me. And boy was it sweet, almost as if this fruity medley was loaded with sugar. Loved it!!
Strength – I would rate this candle a 10 in any size room. Loved the strength.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish. Zero wick maintenance either.
I have a tip to share with Colonial candles. The wicks seem long prior to lighting them for the first time. So long, you’ll be tempted to trim them. DON’T!! Been there, done that. Light them as/is. I don’t know why or how but they self-trim once lit to a perfect size flame. If you trim them prior, the wicks won’t burn correctly and your candle will tunnel. I learned that the hard way.
Closing to my review:
If you love sweet and tropical mango scents, Mango Salsa has your name written all over it and one I highly recommend. It was sweet and a room filler. I really enjoyed it.
Would I purchase this scent again? Yep, absolutely and will probably do so as soon as Spring hits. That’s when I’ll be ready for something sweet and fresh after months of bakery and spice.
Happy candle hunting!
