Jeweled Mandarin Colonial Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Colonial Candle
Type: 7oz Copper Candle
Fragrance: Jeweled Mandarin
Scent Strength: Strong
First impression of Jeweled Mandarin:
Jeweled Mandarin smelled so fresh and citrusy. The moment I smelled the wax, I took a deep inhale and couldn’t wait to light this gorgeous candle up.
Here is the scent description for Jeweled Mandarin:
A bright twist of clementine, cassis berry, grapefruit and juicy peach.
YUM!! Smelling the wax, grapefruit stood out the most over any other element listed in the scent description. Hoping once the candle is burning, all those other notes come to life as well. We shall see!
I lit this my Jeweled Mandarin candle in a small powder room to start out and that’s where it stayed till the last drop of wax. The candle struggled to reach a full melt pool but the aroma was present immediately and it was very delightful. My powder room was filled with the aroma of grapefruit with hints of berry and clementine. Grapefruit was definitely the main base of this fragrance. Berry and clementine, subtle. Peach? Nonexistent. At least to my nose anyway.
Strength – this candle did pretty well. In a small room, I would rate Jeweled Mandarin a 10 out of 10. 6/7 in a medium room which isn’t altogether bad.
How did my Jeweled Mandarin candle burn?
This candle did struggle to reach a full melt pool but that’s been the case with this entire copper/cement line so far. I think the wide expanse with one wick is just not enough to melt all the wax, but I could be wrong. I’m no chandler expert by any means. Other than the candle not reaching a full melt pool, everything else was fine. The wick stayed true and burned perfectly. It also burned pretty clean… no soot or smoke.
Closing to my review:
Even though these jeweled candles never reach a full melt pool, I’ve still been enjoying them. The design is so unique and different and the scents offered in this line so far have been great. Jeweled Mandarin smelled like a refreshing grapefruit with hints of sweet orange and a teeny hint of berries. It’s definitely a wake-you-up kind of citrus scent.
These jeweled/cement candles have been on sale so if you wanted to give them a try, now is the time to do so. I’m loving that Colonial is branching out and creating different designs in new waxes. I will always love their classic oval jars but seeing something new is always refreshing.
Happy candle hunting!
