First impression of Frosted Honey Cake:
Frosted Honey Cake is a limited addition scent from Better Homes and oh my goodness does it smell delicious. I’m still not quite sure how I feel about “limited addition” fragrances… mainly because they’re only around for a short time. What if I fall in love? I’m out of luck once they retire.
Here is the scent description for Frosted Honey Cake:
This fragrance is reminiscent of homemade vanilla honey cake, dusted with ground cinnamon and sweet ginger drizzled with a white sugar glaze.
Mmm!! That sounds perfect. When I first smelled the wax, I could totally detect honey blended with warm cake notes. It’s so amazing how these companies can create these yummy scents that I swear sometimes smell better than the real deal. I hadn’t even burned the candle yet and I already want to pick up a few more.
Time to find out how this candle performs!
I lit this candle in a small bathroom since smaller rooms (for me) work best for maximum scent throw. Once lit, it took several hours to reach a full melt pool and it took even longer than that to really start noticing the fragrance. Once I did… I loved it. The only problem, the aroma from this candle was super light, even in a tiny powder room. So light, I could really only smell the fragrance when I was right up to the candle. Total bummer. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 3 in a small room. Anything larger and the scent would be totally lost.
The melts… MUCH BETTER!!!! I used the entire clamshell pack in 2 electric melters in my great room (it’s a large room) and within minutes, the aroma was traveling all throughout the room. The scent… delicious!!! I smelled warm and sweet honey cake… so yummy… I’m already itching to get back to Walmart to pick up more before they’re gone.
Strength with the melts – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the melts a 7. Not super strong but gave a nice medium scent throw.
Must. Get. More!!
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned very slow and took hours with each burn to reach a full melt pool. Not unusual for this brand. Other than that, it burned fine. Clean burn with no soot.
Closing to my review:
I absolutely loved this fragrance in melt form and highly recommend it to all you bakery lovers out there. It was beyond yummy and I plan on cleaning out my store next time I’m there. The candle… I probably won’t buy it again but only because it was so lightly scented. I plan on sticking to melts.
You can’t beat Better Homes and Gardens prices so definitely check out this fragrance next time you see it. It smells exactly like sweet honey cake… warm and oh so delicious.
Happy candle hunting!
