Flamingo Beach Bath & Body Works Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Flamingo Beach
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Flamingo Beach:
I don’t think anyone does tropical quite like Bath & Body Works – – summer scents I always look forward to each year. With that said, I was a little skeptical about Flamingo Beach with the floral notes in the mix but I gave it a go anyway. I can usually handle floral mixed with fruity components and this one sounded too interesting to pass up. I loved the pink label too. Very beachy and summery. 😊
Here is the scent description for Flamingo Beach:
Pink summer berries, juicy orange, dewy white petals.
Mmm! Pink summer berries sold me and then once I smelled the wax, I smiled and breathed this one in. This scent smelled simply beautiful just sniffing the wax!! I could smell the summer berries and dewy white petals the most and blended together smelled like a fresh and sugary floral. I wasn’t smelling a whole lot of orange but I was a creamy sugar. I don’t know why most of Bath & Body Works summer scents have a similar sugary vibe to them, like a sweet sugary vanilla as the base. It could be my imagination, but I’m going with it.
Time to light my candle!
I lit my Flamingo Beach candle in my master bedroom to start out and about 2 hours later, I ended up moving it to a smaller room. This scent was very light. Once moved to my guest bedroom… much better. The aroma moving through the room smelled – you’re going to think I’m nuts – but it smelled like a watered down bubble gum with floral notes. The aroma kind of changed on me. The summer berries didn’t stand out and neither did the juicy orange. All I could smell up close was kind of an aquatic floral with watered down bubble gum. Honestly, I didn’t care for it at all. The worst part, half way down this candle, the wicks totally sputtered out. I couldn’t even get two of them to stay lit – it didn’t matter what I did. Total bummer and disappointment with this one.
Strength – Flamingo Beach was really lightly scented for me. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 4 in a large room. 6/7 in a medium and probably 10 in a small.
How did my Flamingo Beach candle burn?
This candle burned fine the first half of the candle. Once it hit the halfway mark, the wicks died a slow and horrible – PAINFUL – death! First all three wicks sputtered into little nubs. Then two wicks completely died and no matter what I did, they wouldn’t relight. So frustrating!! If I lived near a Bath & Body Works store, I would return this candle. But the closest one is over an hour away. So, in the trash it goes. ☹
Closing to my review:
I’m kind of sad. This review started out so promising and ended in pure disappointment. Flamingo Beach was a bust for me and for obvious reasons, this will not be a repurchase. I’m curious though for those who have tried it… what did you think? Did you get a different vibe than I did? Did you smell bubblegum? Every nose smells a candle differently after all. I just hope if you tried it, your candle burned correctly.
Don’t see Flamingo Beach listed in Bath & Body Works website? Try one of their stores which tends to carry all their current scents. And should you hit one of their stores… smell this candle and see what you think.
Happy candle hunting!
