Blue Ocean Waves Bath & Body Works Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Blue Ocean Waves
Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Blue Ocean Waves:
Bath & Body Works has been pumping out fresh kind of masculine/unisex fragrances lately and Blue Ocean Waves definitely falls into that category. The wax smelled like… total redundancy here… a fresh body splash is the best description I can come up with. Being that I’ve always been partial to this type of fragrance, I liked it the moment I smelled the wax.
Here is the scent description for Blue Ocean Waves:
Ocean breeze, citrus sea spray, creamy sandalwood.
The citrus sea spray definitely stood out the most. Everything else must be the ocean breeze – whatever that is. I didn’t smell any sandalwood which did bum me out. I was looking forward to that one the most. Regardless, just based off cold sniff, I still liked it.
Now let’s see how Blue Ocean Waves performs!
I lit this candle in my large master bedroom and it did pretty well there. It’s a large room so if a candle can fill that space with fragrance, we have a winner. The aroma stayed pretty true. A very fresh and clean cologne kind of scent. It smelled very airy and bright, like a spritz of crisp cologne that lingers in the air with your bedroom windows wide open. Fresh, breezy and clean.
Strength – I would rate Blue Ocean Waves an 8 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms. It wasn’t super strong but did give a nice and steady medium scent throw.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great, thankfully! The wicks stayed true and maintenance was minimal. It also burned clean and even from beginning to end. A+
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed Blue Ocean Waves but keeping it real, all these fresh/masculine scents from Bath & Body Works are all starting to blur together for me. This candle smelled like a unisex body splash. A scent you could easily imagine in bath & body, soap or a vibrant scent to burn in your bedroom or bathroom. I liked it but it but probably not enough to repurchase again. A scent has to really “wow” me to lure me back for more. I still recommend it though if you love fresh aromas. My suggestion… smell this candle for yourself and see what you think. Who knows… you may fall in love.
Don’t see Blue Ocean Waves on Bath & Body Works website? Try one of their stores which tends to carry all their current scents vs. online.
Happy candle hunting!
