Lavender Thymes Luxury Candle Review
By Christina Rylan
Type: 9oz luxury candle
Scent Strength: Medium
First impression of Lavender from Thymes:
I have been craving lavender scents all summer long, and I can’t seem to get enough of it, so the moment I saw Thymes had a lavender candle, I couldn’t resist purchasing one to review. Thymes are known for their elegant and unique fragrances so I was curious to see what their interpretation of lavender would be.
The candle was really pretty. The vessel itself was clear with a purple floral whimsical pattern wrapped all around the candle. The matching box was just as lovely with a watercolor theme of stamped lavender flowers in different shades of purple. Presentation was very elegant as expected from a luxury brand. See picture above for visual reference.
Here is the scent description:
Velvety lavender. Warm rosewood. Fresh clary sage. Earthy violet.
First impression? Keep in mind I didn’t read the scent description prior to purchasing it, so when I first received this candle, I was pretty confused. I hardly smelled any lavender and that surprised me. Smelling the wax, I detected flowers and herbs more than lavender and now I know why after reading the description. Once I did, it made sense. I could clearly smell rosewood, clary sage and violet the most. Lavender, not so much which kind of made me sad, but also curious. Would the lavender come to life once the candle was burning? I hope so.
Let’s find out!
I lit this candle in my bedroom to start out where it stayed from beginning to end. What an interesting fragrance this turned out to be. Once the wick was lit, it took several hours to reach a full melt pool, and the aroma… my entire bedroom smelled like an herbal floral garden with hints of something powdery. I still had a hard time pinpointing lavender in the mix but regardless… the overall scent was a lovely and soft floral I found captivating. It just wasn’t what I was initially expecting.
Being that violets were in the mix, which is a pretty strong floral, I was a little worried my husband would hate it. Not so. In fact, not once did he comment on this candle and it burned brightly in our bedroom for a full week. That tells you this fragrance wasn’t an offensive floral or too strong. It was a perfect medium in strength and had enough clary sage in it to taper down the heavy violet component. And even though I was a tad disappointed I didn’t notice lavender, I still found this to be a lovely scent I can’t help but recommend. It was too beautiful not to.
Strength – I would rate this candle a 7 out of 10 in a large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms. Not bad for a luxury brand.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
Lavender from Thymes did throw me for a loop but in the end, in a good way. I was hoping for an herbal lavender and ended up with an herbal flower garden instead which I think was even better. Lavender scents are a dime a dozen… Thymes version was very different and held my attention till the very end.
Floral lovers, I recommend this one. It’s gorgeous.
Happy candle hunting!
