What did my Anemone candle smell like?
Anemone from Illume caught my attention the first time I saw it on their website. I loved the name but it was the scent description that ultimately sold me. Illume fragrances are always so beautiful and feminine at the heart with a touch of complexity. These scents are hard to resist.
Here is the scent description for Anemone:
Citrus Blossoms and crisp apple are blended with ethereal oak moss, oriental clove, and a touch of patchouli.
First impression when I smelled the candle, beautiful! The aroma reminded me of a sweet and exotic unisex cologne since it had a bit of a masculine vibe to it.
Time to light my candle!
I started this candle in a small bathroom to test in and ended up leaving it there from beginning to end. Once lit, it took a good 20 minutes to reach a full melt pool and the aroma….. so lovely!
For me, Illume fragrances tend to be pretty complex meaning, I have a hard time breaking down what I’m smelling in comparison to the scent description. I couldn’t really detect any single component. It was all blended so well and I keep going back to a exotic unisex cologne, both masculine and feminine. I also want to point out, I wasn’t detecting any clove or patchouli at all which I find both to be very distinctive and hard to miss in a fragrance. To me, this scent smelled like a soft and sultry perfume.
So, I think this is just one of those scents you’ll have to experience for yourself to understand its complexity and uniqueness. It’s a lovely fragrance and one I could easily wear in a lotion or perfume. It was very soft and sexy.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 6 in a small room. 3 in a medium room. It wasn’t super strong and gave a nice and steady subtle throw in a small room. I don’t think I would go any bigger than a bathroom with this candle.
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned pretty good. It did have a rough beginning maintaining a full melt pool but it did eventually right itself for a full and even burn. No soot, no wasted wax.
Closing to my review:
Anemone… such a lovely name and fragrance. I really enjoyed this candle… my only critique was the strength. I would have loved it even more had the scent throw been a little stronger. I burned this candle in a pretty small bathroom and the fragrance was subtle, even for a small room. So… should you decide to try this candle, definitely keep that in mind.
Happy candle hunting!
