First impression of Amber & Olibanum:
Where to begin with this candle? I first want to point out how delightful the packaging was. The candle itself was a whisky glass style vessel and solid black. The label was oval and solid black with a gold foil font and matching trim around the edge of the label. The wax a creamy white with one centered cotton wick. The box it came in – a solid black cylinder type container that was so heavy, you couldn’t even crush it with your hands if you tried. The candle itself fit snugly inside for a perfect fit. The overall presentation was elegant and very well done.
Now, on to the scent. Here is the scent description I found for Amber & Olibanum:
Sensual and oriental. The scent opens with a cocktail of citrus with leather, spiced up with black pepper and caraway. The heart also reveals notes of clary sage and geranium. The trail goes ambry and sweet with the accord of opoponax and vanilla.
When I first smelled this candle, the first word that came to mind was complex. This fragrance smelled very romantic and sultry so yes… sensual and oriental fit the description perfectly.
Time to find out how this candle performs.
I decided to go bold and light this candle in my master bedroom and soon realized I needed to move it to a much smaller room. So, in my powder room it went where it stayed till the very end. Once the wick was lit, it took about 30 minutes to reach a full melt pool and from then on out… a very beautiful and romantic scent filled my bathroom. The aroma was complex… too complex to really break down. Suffice it to say… it reminded me of a sensual and romantic soft perfume. It wasn’t too floral but a perfect blend of fresh and floral on a bed of amber and vanilla. That was the romantic component to me and the overall aroma was really lovely.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 5 in a very small room so I wouldn’t even attempt burning it in anything larger. The aroma in a small room though was perfect.
This candle burned pretty good. Wick maintenance was minimal and the candle burned clean and evenly till the very end.
Closing to my review:
Amber & Olibanum was a lovely and romantic aroma I loved till the last drop. It was on the lighter side so should you decide to give this candle a try, that’s something to keep in mind. A small bathroom worked best for me.
Even though Cerabella Candles are located in Spain, you can purchase a nice selection through Amazon. Pretty cool!
Happy candle hunting!
