Brand: Pier 1 Imports
Type: 9.75oz candle
Fragrance: Tuscan Moonlight
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Tuscan Moonlight:
Tuscan Moonlight smelled pretty subtle right off the bat but what I could smell…. very nice. The wax smelled like sweet berries but with a more sophisticated flair. I’m hoping once the candle was lit, the aroma would strengthen.
Here is the scent description from Pier 1’s website:
Master perfumers have captured an idyllic evening on an Italian hillside by blending black raspberry, juicy nectar and plum noir top notes in one highly fragranced candle.
Yes, that is definitely what I was smelling, blackberries, plums and maybe it was the nectar that gave it the added sophistication I was noticing when I first smelled it? Whatever it was, it was really lovely.
Time to find out how this candle performs.
I stuck to a small bathroom to test this candle in and ended up leaving it there from start to finish. I wanted maximum scent throw and that’s exactly what I got. The aroma… not what I expected. Reality? I didn’t like it. The fragrance morphed into something perfume’y and the fruity notes I detected early on totally went away leaving an – dare I say this – old lady perfume kind of aroma. Gack!
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 9 in a small room. 5 in a medium room. Definitely a room filler in a small room.
This candle burned great. No wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
You win some and you lose some. I normally love every scent I’ve purchased from Pier 1 but this candle didn’t float my boat at all. Definitely not purchasing this one again.
Don’t take my word for it though… next time you’re at Pier 1 and you see this candle… smell it. Who knows what you may think.
Happy candle hunting!
