First impression of Cookies for Santa:
I have been really happy with the candle selection at Walmart lately and with Christmas upon us, there are so many to choose from. Cookies for Santa was hard to resist and a scent I always gravitate towards during the holidays. I love sugar cookie scents… LOVE them!! And this candle smelled sweet and delicious.
Looking at the label on the bottom of the candle, the manufacturer for this line is Candle-Lite and I’m sure exclusively made for Walmart. The style jar reminds me of Bath & Body Works large 3 wicks jars only down to the 3 wicks and flat chrome lids. The price can’t be beat either at $8.00 a candle.
Here is the scent description I pulled from the label on the bottom of the candle:
Buttery, shortbread and sugar.
The picture on the label shows Christmas sugar cookies with sugar sprinkles and icing. YUM!! Smelling the wax, I detected a doughy vanilla sugar cookie. The aroma was perfect sniffing it cold and I couldn’t wait to light the wicks and get started on this review.
Time to get going!
I decided to start this candle in a small room to see how it did and unhappy to report… this candle was suited to a small room but was very-very lightly scented. So light, I could barely smell the aroma… even in a tiny powder room. What I could smell, a vanilla cookie, but not really authentic. The buttery cookie I first detected when smelling the wax went away leaving a superficial and almost synthetic aroma once burning. I didn’t like it.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 4 in tiny room. The aroma was so light, I wouldn’t even attempt burning this candle in anything larger.
This candle burned pretty good. I did have to stay on top of trimming all three wicks or the flames turned into torches. Other than that, clean and even burn.
Closing to my review:
Cookies for Santa started out quite promising but ended in disappointment. I am a little bummed about that but this was an inexpensive candle so I guess I can’t complain too much. I think what throws me is the style candle. It looks so much like Bath & Body Works large candles, I kind of expect the same performance and quality.
Oh well….. I think if I see this same fragrance in melt form, I may try that to see if the scent is better and more realistic. We shall see.
Until then…. Happy candle hunting!
