I found my Barn Candle at our local antique store when a friend was visiting. I had never gone to the store before. They had the votives, 8 oz and 16 oz mason jar candles with the old fashioned metal jar lids. The large jars had a book of matches attached like a tag–cute idea. My purchase was an 8 oz Amish Cookie “squat” Mason jar. The aroma is of a fresh baked sugar cookie. As soon as I took the lid off my bathroom started smelling of cookies. I have had it lit now for over an hour and I have a metal lid sitting on it. It is burning clear across and a large wax pool has formed. The fragrance is slightly less heated than cold but so far I am very pleased with this candle. I checked their website and it is very attractive and appears easy to use. Our store carries quite an assortment so I will probably go back there when I need a new one. Unless something changes as the candle burns I will be getting more of these. The 8 oz was $9.99 and the 16 oz were $14.99 which is not bad. They had a pumpkin pie one that would be great for fall. All in all I think these are worth giving a try. Update 10/12/06—After burning the candle for several hours I felt the scent throw diminished considerably. The next day I lit it again and got a strong scent throw for about 2 hrs and then it again diminished. The candle is burning very evenly and not leaving wax or soot on the jar. I still think these are worth a try and would make cute gifts.
