First impression of Bourbon Maple Sugar:
Smile. Sigh. Inhale. This is what happened the moment I popped off the lid to my Bourbon Maple Sugar candle. The wax smelled sugary sweet and a perfect maple bakery scent.
Here is the scent description for Bourbon Maple Sugar:
A mild bourbon note blends with a rich aroma of brown sugar and maple!
Yes! Brown sugar is what I smelled. I didn’t really smell bourbon unless that smells like vanilla. To me, that’s what this scent reminded me of… creamy vanilla, maple syrup with swirls of brown sugar. So very sweet, creamy and perfect. I loved it! Now let’s see how this candle performs!
I lit this candle in a small bathroom to start out and that’s where it stayed till the last drop of wax. Oh my goodness was this scent yummy. Once the wick was lit, it took about 30 minutes to reach a full melt pool and the aroma… a sweet vanilla maple with brown sugar. The description is very accurate (minus the bourbon) so it’s definitely a fragrance you’ll be tempted to eat, especially if you love creamy vanilla scents.
Strength – This was an interesting candle. The first half of this candle seemed very light, even for a small bathroom. The second half, the aroma intensified and grew stronger. Weird right? I paid attention though and watched this candle from the day I lit the wick to the last drop of wax and that’s what I took note of. So here is how I would rate it. Top half – 4 out of 10 in a really small room. Bottom half – 7 out of 10 in a really small room. I wouldn’t even try burning this candle in anything larger than a small room but that’s up to you. If you do, try their drizzle melts instead.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned great. No wick issue. Clean burning from start to finish. I did have to trim the wick before each lighting every day but that’s pretty standing with most wicks/candles.
Closing to my review:
I very much loved the scent Bourbon Maple Sugar from Swan Creek and think I’m going to give their drizzle melts a try next time in this fragrance. The candle was nice but just a little too lightly scented for me. Other than that, SUPER yummy scent. Especially if you love sweet vanilla scents.
Happy candle hunting!
