What did my candle smell like?
Can a person fall in love with packaging as much as the candle itself? I contemplate that each and every time I receive a luxury candle. I’m always blown away by the detail and sophistication each luxury brand puts into their presentation. I even look forward to unraveling it all as much as burning the candle itself. And that’s where I found myself while holding a Trapp candle I had just received. The box this candle came in literally blew me away! Silly right? It reminded me of a little bird house with intricate scrollwork and detail about the candle and company on each side of the box. The box itself was heavy and very well made and the lid… so cool!! The lid was hinged on the box with a thick looped rubber band that hooked onto a little knob below it to hold the lid in place. Very well done. So well done, I still can’t bring myself to throw the box away. See picture above for visual reference.
Now onto the candle…. another wow!! The scent… Bob’s Flower Shoppe.
Full disclosure… I’m not a fan of heavy floral scents but it also can be interesting and fun to jump out of my comfort zone sometimes and this scent was definitely a leap for me. Floral is simply not my cup of tea for many reasons. Too strong, too heavy, too sweet and they can sometimes affect my allergies giving me headaches. But, I will say this… I do and can appreciate authentic florals when I run across one and this candle definitely surprised me.
First impression… it smelled like I was putting my nose into a fresh bouquet of flowers. I couldn’t believe how authentic it was. It smelled sweet and utterly provocative.

Bob’s Flower Shop offers green, airy notes followed by a rich floral bouquet. This scent was inspired by the fragrance Bob was greeted with when he entered his flower cooler.
I keep going back to sinking my nose into a fresh bouquet of flowers… it truly smelled just like it down to the sweetness and yes, I even smelled the green airy notes.
Time to find out how this candle burns! I had a feeling it was going to be a room filler.
I was a little hesitant to burn this candle in my master bedroom since my hubby really dislikes floral scents much more than I do but… it couldn’t be helped. I did give him a heads up and let him smell the candle before I lit it and I received the response I knew I would. He threw his head back, made a face of dislike and begged me to burn it while he was “not” in the house. I laughed and complied.
Here we go…..
Once I lit the candle, it took minutes to start noticing the fragrance. The scent…. fresh flowers, all the way – just as it smelled when I first took the candle out of its box. My bedroom, adjoining bathroom and basically the entire upper level of my home smelled like a fresh flower shop. Sweet and vividly fresh flowers. The scent throw surprised me. Luxury candles are usually great for scenting a single room. This candle however scented the entire upper level of my home. Was it because it was a floral scent? Maybe. The best part… it wasn’t a heavy aroma that would normally bother me. I found the fragrance pleasant and really pretty. My entire bedroom smelled like a fresh floral bouquet of sweet flowers.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 15. It was pretty strong.
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned perfect. Clean and even burn from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
Even though I’m not a fan of floral fragrances, I still enjoyed this candle and definitely appreciated how authentic it smelled. I swear I could have had a fresh bouquet of flowers in one hand and this candle in another and it would have been hard to tell the difference. This candle smelled that realistic. Also want to point out, the fragrance would linger long after I would extinguish the wick each night too… for hours. That’s pretty amazing.
In closing, if you love floral scents and like your candles strongly scented, Bob’s Floral Shoppe from Trapp is a MUST try!!
