First impression of Blueberry Maple Pancakes:

Whenever Bath & Body Works has a scent with “waffle” or “pancakes” in it, I’m all over it. I like to imagine beforehand what a candle might smell like and here is my hope for Blueberry Maple Pancakes – Fluffy and buttery pancakes with blueberry jam spread on the top then loaded with tons of sweet maple syrup. I want the pancake/bakery bread notes to stand out the most with maple syrup second and then sweet blueberries last. Will my imagination come to fruition? Oh, I hope so!!

Wild Blueberries, Griddle Fresh Pancakes, Warm Maple Syrup.

Uh oh, they have blueberries first so I bet this candle will be all blueberry with maple syrup. Smelling the wax for the first time, I am correct, minus the maple syrup. The wax smelled like blueberries with a hint of something spicy. I sniffed it quite a bit to make sure and my nose is definitely picking up on something spicy. You know what it reminds me of? Two scents I’ve already reviewed from Bath & Body Works – Berry Pumpkin Strudel and Blueberry Pumpkin Patch. I know this candle doesn’t have pumpkin in the mix but I’m clearly suspecting this is the same scent, just renamed. Not passing judgement yet till I light the wicks and smell it burning. That’s the true test.

Let’s get to it!

I lit this candle in my master bedroom and waited for the pancake magic to begin. It took roughly 10 minutes before the scent started permeating my bedroom and my earlier suspicions are looking pretty accurate… this is Berry Pumpkin Strudel, and if it isn’t, it sure smells just like it. I don’t smell any fluffy pancakes or maple syrup. I smell a blueberry cake with a hint of spice. SUPER BUMMED!!!! And even though I feel somewhat cheated, I will say the candle still smelled good. My entire bedroom smelled like a blueberry bakery cake scent… it just wasn’t what I was hoping for.

C’est la vie. Such is life.

Strength – Blueberry Maple Pancakes gave a decent scent throw. I would rate this candle an 8 out of 10 in a large room. 10 in a medium to smaller rooms.

How did my Blueberry Maple Pancakes candle burn?

This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.

Closing to my review:

Blueberry Maple Pancakes smelled really good but keeping it real, it didn’t smell anything like pancakes or maple syrup. Not to me anyway. For me, it smelled more like blueberry cake with a hint of something spicy. Maybe my expectations were a little too high with this one, who’s to say, but I’m still holding firm this is Berry Pumpkin Strudel renamed. ☹ Do I still feel cheated? Yeah, I do. I probably wouldn’t have purchased this scent had I known. But, don’t let that stop you if you love blueberry bakery scents. It was yummy.
